For [[Sora]], [[Donald Duck|Donald]], and [[Goofy]], it instead produces their Dream weapons, which has the odd effect of giving Sora a Sword weapon despite his weapons being classified as Keyblades. For Roxas, however, it produces his signature Oathkeeper and Oblivion only when equipped with three [[Ability Unit]]s, and only during [[Mission Mode]]. It produces Kingdom Key+, Oathkeeper, and Two Become One when equipped with zero, one, and two Ability Units, respectively. In Story Mode, three Ability Units simply revert the Keyblade back into Kingdom Key+. Xion's Keyblade, when equipped with the Zero Gear, operates as Roxas's does in Story Mode.

Gears (ギア Gia?) are part of the Panel System featured in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. These panels change the form of the playable character's weapons, serving as a replacement of the Keychain system of previous games. Most Gears have room to attach Units (ユニット Yunitto?), which boost the weapon's stats or unlock hidden abilities.

When equipped, it transforms the user's weapon into a more formidable form, with exceptional capabilities. The Pandora's Gear ⑤ grants the Risky Play ability.

For Organization members, this Gear grants them two of their most powerful weapons; the color scheme is the same for all of the Organization's weapons provided by the Pandora's Gear, consisting of black, gold, and blue or red. Sora, Donald, and Goofy get a weapon based on an Organization member's signature weapon, Riku gets Roxas's Oblivion, and Mickey gets his original Keyblade, the Star Seeker.

Zero Gear KHD.png The Zero Gear ⑤ (ゼロギア⑤ Zero Gia ⑤?) can be purchased for 30000 Heart Points at the Moogle Shop, once Roxas is promoted to Legend rank. It is emblazoned with the Nobody insignia and transforms the user's weapon into a more powerful form that draws forth its wielder's true worth.

The Zero Gear grants the Organization members their signature weapons. For Roxas, it grants him the Kingdom Key+ by default, Oathkeeper with one Ability Unit, and Two Become One with two. In Story Mode, three Ability Units revert his weapon back into Kingdom Key+, while in Mission Mode, it allows him to dual-wield Oathkeeper & Oblivion. Xion's Zero Gear works as Roxas's does in Story Mode. Sora, Donald, and Goofy get their Dream weapons, which has the odd effect of treating the Dream Sword as a Keyblade. Riku gets his signature Keyblade, Way to the Dawn, and Mickey gets a stronger version of his Keyblade called Kingdom Key DΩ.

Ability Unit KHD.png The Ability Unit Ⓛ (アビリティユニットⓁ Abiriti Yunitto Ⓛ?) is a link panel that unlocks one of a weapon's hidden abilities when equipped.

The three Ability Unit Ⓛ's can be purchased at the Moogle Shop for 360 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Rookie rank, obtained as a clear bonus in Mission 15, and as a clear bonus in Mission 30.

Power Unit[edit]

Power Unit KHD.png The Power Unit Ⓛ (パワーユニットⓁ Pawā Yunitto Ⓛ?) is a link panel that increases the weapon's Strength, depending on the weapon.

The five Power Unit Ⓛ's can be purchased at the Moogle Shop for 180 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Novice rank, for 480 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Agent rank, for 2500 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Legend rank, redeemed for 170 Mission Crowns, and obtained from a chest at the Side Street in Mission 13.

Magic Unit KHD.png The Magic Unit Ⓛ (マジックユニットⓁ Majikku Yunitto Ⓛ?) is a link panel that increases the weapon's Magic, depending on the weapon.

The five Magic Unit Ⓛ's can be purchased at the Moogle Shop for 480 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Rookie rank, for 800 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Expert rank, for 2500 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Legend rank, redeemed for 190 Mission Crowns, and obtained as a clear bonus in Mission 73.

The five Guard Unit Ⓛ's can be purchased at the Moogle Shop for 480 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Rookie rank, for 800 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Expert rank, for 2500 Heart Points once Roxas is promoted to Legend rank, redeemed for 240 Mission Crowns, and obtained as an MG clear bonus in Mission 20.

Sight Unit[edit]

Sight Unit KHD.png The Sight Unit Ⓛ (センスユニットⓁ Sensu Yunitto Ⓛ?, lit. "Sense Unit Ⓛ") is a link panel that increases the weapon's Critical Rate and Critical Bonus, depending on the weapon.

The five Sight Unit Ⓛ's are obtained as a clear bonus in Mission 44, as a clear bonus in Mission 90, from a chest at the Agrabah Street in Mission 32, from a chest at the Entrance Hall in Mission 48, and from a chest at the Agrabah Street in Mission 82.
