The Gold Tricholoma is an Emblem Heartless that was introduced in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

Design[edit]

A Gold Tricholoma has a spherical, pitch black head with two glowing yellow, beady eyes. It wears a round, golden cap on its head that sports two black, angular spirals on its front. It also seems to wear a golden smock that completely covers its legs and thin, fingerless arms. Its Heartless emblem is present on the front of this smock.

The Gold Tricholoma's name references its golden coloration and Tricholoma, a genus of fungus.

Strategy[edit]

Gold Tricholomas are Heartless very similar to the Prize Pod Unversed and the Bulky Vendor Heartless. Gold Tricholomas can sometimes appear on a System Sector floor, but only in one room, and only after at least one room has been cleared of bugs. They appear most reliably in the Cave / Gauntlet System Sector.

Once found, the Gold Tricholoma will keep vanishing and reappear in a new part of the room, making it difficult to close in on it. After a short period, it will also shroud itself in a cloud of poison that damages and blinds Data-Sora on contact. However, the Tricholoma drops SP prize orbs each time it is hit, and when it is defeated it relinquishes a jackpot of SP. It can also absorb SP prizes dropped by Data-Sora, but drops those again upon defeat. Tricholomas are vulnerable to most status effects, so they can easily be slain by immobilizing them with a freeze or air-toss, or by simply striking them with powerful Keyblades. Gold Tricholomas disappear 15 seconds after flinching for the first time, or when Data-Sora moves to another room.

The Gold Tricholoma scales its level to match Data-Sora's current level. While this normally means that it will remain a challenge to defeat as Data-Sora's level grows, this can be turned against the Tricholoma to make it weaker: simply replace Level Up chips with stat-boosting chips to compensate for the levels' stats. The Tricholoma will be forced to scale to the lower level, while Data-Sora can maintain higher stats.
