It moves in a clockwise motion around its target, so keep that in mind when attacking. It moves swiftly, so attack in the few instances it shows its movements. Keep an eye out to avoid and counter its high-speed tackle with Quick Blade. |

The Magnum Loader is an Emblem Heartless that can only be encountered in Kingdom Hearts II. It is found primarily in Space Paranoids.
Story[edit]
Kingdom Hearts II[edit]
When Sora is forced to play a game, Magnum Loaders of multiple colors and with different abilities attempt to derezz him.
After the Master Control Program gains control of the Heartless Manufactory, he creates several Heartless that exist only in Space Paranoids to attack Hollow Bastion, including Magnum Loaders. Back in the computer world, several of them attack Tron, but he is saved by Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
This information is based on alternate scenes or materials and is not considered canon within the overall plot of the series. |
---|
In the manga adaptation of Kingdom Hearts II, Donald accidentally grabs onto a Magnum Loader while playing on a Light Cycle in the Canyon, causing it to go wild while he refuses to let go. Sora saves his friend by standing in the path of the Heartless and attacking it head on. |
Design[edit]
The Magnum Loader's most prominent feature is the single, large wheel that comprises its lower body and provides its only means of movement. It is almost entirely black and is covered in red computer circuitry. Its head is long, sleek, and oval-shaped, and sports a jagged, red antenna on its top. Each of its short arms lead into grey, cylindrical hands tipped with conical, red spikes. Its glowing, yellow eyes are just barely visible in the front of its head. Its Heartless emblem is on its chest. During the Light Cycle games, several Magnum Loaders appear with circuitry that is a different color than the standard red, including gold, green, blue, and silver.
The Magnum Loader's name is a mistranslation of "Magna Roader," the same name as the Magna Roader from Final Fantasy VI, which is also a fast, unicycle enemy. Alternatively, "loader" can refer to a computer program that prepares others for commencement. "Magnum" is a Latin word that means "great."
Strategy[edit]
Magnum Loaders appear both as an obstacle within the Light Cycle minigame and as a normal enemy in a few worlds, primarily in Space Paranoids. Within the minigame, Magnum Loaders are incredibly fast, and each type of Magnum Loader has its own attack strategy.
Only Red Magnum Loaders appear outside of the minigame. They can be difficult to land a hit on due to their speed, but unlike the similarly-speedy Hot Rod, they are much more open to physical attacks, and can be easily brought down by hitting them with both spells and weapon strikes. They are open to attack while circling Sora in an anti-clockwise direction. The Magnum Loader counterattacks with its Somersault and Spike Charge attacks when damaged.
