The Yellow Opera is an Emblem Heartless introduced in Kingdom Hearts.

Design

A Yellow Opera has a smooth, conical, yellow body and has a Heartless emblem is emblazoned on its chest. The top of its body flares outward and forms a jagged "collar" below the Heartless's spherical, pitch black head. It also wears a conical, orange hat that has a jagged brim and a thin, slightly bent tip. Unlike many Heartless in its family, this tip is very long and did not curl up in Kingdom Hearts, though it did in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Like many Heartless, the Yellow Opera has glowing yellow eyes. Its seemingly useless feet sport three small, thin toes.

Like other Heartless in its family, the Yellow Opera's name refers to a color—in this case, yellow—and a musical term—in this case, an opera, which is a theatrical work combining drama, music, song and sometimes dance, and specifically the name refers to the score for such a work here.

Strategy

Kingdom Hearts

Yellow Opera utilize Thunder magic and absorbs any kind of Thunder magic cast on it, but are affected by all other types of magic. They are the fastest of their kind, and dart around, however their attacks are easily dodged. Like the rest of their family, Yellow Opera are most common in Wonderland once the Hollow Bastion keyhole is revealed.

If timed correctly, Sora can earn Tech Points in Kingdom Hearts.[3][4][5][6]

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Technique Element Status Power Block?
Headbutt (頭突き Zudzuki?)
Attack
Lightning Jolt (10%) 0.85
Charges at the enemy while emitting electricity from its head.
Thunder (サンダー Sandā?)
Attack
Lightning Jolt (70%) 0.98 X
Summons a bolt of lightning that appears directly above the target after a delay.
Guard/Block: △ = Can be blocked; O = Can be blocked and interrupted (melee) or deflected back (projectile); X = Cannot be blocked.

Yellow Operas fight mostly the same as they do in Kingdom Hearts. Yellow Operas are not dangerous on their own, but may prove a nuisance while fighting other enemies with their Thunder attack, which can be easily dodged with the use of Dodge Roll, so getting rid of them can be efficient due to their low health. They are weak to Fire magic, and will absorb Thunder magic.
