After your adventures in Hollow Bastion, the best place to encounter them is in Monstro. There is a fair number in the upper areas in Chamber 3.

Kingdom Hearts
Spellcasting Heartless. While hovering about, they attack by casting Fire. Having low HP, they keep their distance from their opponents, making them difficult to attack. They absorb fire attacks.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
A magic-wielding Heartless that drifts through the air. It's flighty and hard to hit.
The Red Nocturne attacks with Fire from a distance, and absorbs fire damage.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
Spell-slinging Heartless that float on the breeze, but that doesn't mean they're a breeze to take down. Keep your distance and they'll try to toast you with Fire magic; get too close and they'll run away. Good thing they don't have much HP.
Kingdom Hearts Union χ
A support-type enemy that boosts the strength of its allies. Defeat it before it has the chance!

The Red Nocturne is an Emblem Heartless introduced in Kingdom Hearts.

Design

The Red Nocturne has a smooth, conical, red body with a Heartless emblem emblazoned on its chest. The top of its body flares outward and forms a jagged "collar" below the Heartless's spherical, pitch black head. It also wears a conical, yellow hat that has a jagged brim and a thin, curled tip. Like many Heartless, the Red Nocturne has glowing yellow eyes. Its seemingly useless feet sport three small, thin toes.

Like other Heartless in its family, the Red Nocturne's name is comprised of a color—in this case, red—and a musical term—in this case, a nocturne, which is usually a musical composition that is inspired by, or evocative of, the night.

Battle

Attacks

  • The Red Nocturne launches a fireball at its target.
  • The Red Nocturne cloaks itself in flames and rushes at its target.

Strategy

Red Nocturnes utilize Fire magic to damage opponents; they are weak to Blizzard Magic, and those who strike these Heartless with it earn Tech Points. Red Nocturnes absorb and are healed by Fire magic when it is cast on them by Sora and his friends.

Sora earns Tech Points every time he blocks a Red Nocturne's attacks.[3][4][5][6]

After Kairi's rescue, the best place to encounter them is in Monstro. There is a fair number in the upper areas in Chamber 3.

  2. ^ x0.6 after rescuing Kairi.
  3. ^ In Kingdom Hearts, before Kairi's rescue, Sora earns one Tech Point every time he blocks a Red Nocturne's fireball attack. The number of Tech Points earned by doing this is increased to two in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.
  4. ^ Before Kairi's rescue, Sora earns two Tech Points every time he casts Blizzard or Gravity on a Red Nocturne.
  5. ^ After Kairi's rescue, 12 Tech Points are earned each time Sora successfully blocks a Red Nocturne's fireball attack.
  6. ^ In Kingdom Hearts, after Kairi's rescue, Sora earns nine Tech Points every time he casts Blizzard or Gravity on a Red Nocturne.
