In the D23 Expo Japan 2013 trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, Sora, Donald, and Goofy are on a "Big Magic Mountain" train ride going around the Rock Titan in a mountain. Sora attacks the Titan a couple of times before jumping on top of the Titan's hand and landing back onto his seat. Sora leads the train upwards into the sky, high above the Titan, turns around facing the Titan and sends the train ride right into the Titan.
The planets have aligned over Olympus, and with it, Hades sets into motion his master plan: releasing the four Titans - the Rock Titan being one of them - onto Olympus. After they wreak havoc in Olympus and leave it in ruins, Hades sets the Rock Titan at the summit of Mount Olympus, to guard the Realm of the Gods against Sora, Hercules and their companions.

As soon as Sora and co. approach the Mountainside area of Mount Olympus, they are attacked by falling boulders, which are the Rock Titan's doing. Sora scales the cliff, avoiding the boulders as he does so, until finally, he and his friends encounter the Rock Titan at the summit and defeat him.

Later, in the Realm of the Gods, the Rock Titan reappears to confront Sora and co.; however, Hercules frees Zeus from his prison, and Zeus sends lightning bolts towards all the Titans, chasing them away. The Rock Titan, along with the other Titans, is scooped up into the Tornado Titan by Hercules's hands, and then released into space, where they are destroyed for good in an explosion.

Before facing the Rock Titan directly, Sora must scale the cliff while avoiding the boulders he throws down. After reaching him, Sora must attack both of his feet and damage them enough. During this phase, the Rock Titan attacks by stomping; the player must retreat from that foot to avoid damage. The Rock Titan can also create trails of rising rocks, indicated by a harmless blue trail beforehand.

However, a somewhat faster plan is to equip a powerful Keyblade (such as Lionheart, Oblivion, or Ultima Weapon), and repeatedly hammer the legs with Arcanum or Sonic Blade until he falls down. Then, just keep using Arcanum on the heads, as it will deal a large amount of damage. Using this method, the only magic you really need is Curaga. However, if you use Aero, he will take damage simply by you being near him.
His feet both have separate HP bars, and once they've been damaged the Rock Titan will fall back against the mountainside, where Sora must then scale his body and attack his heads. He attacks by swinging his heads. Eventually, Sora can use the Mountain Coaster Attraction, and as he rides the train he must shoot repeatedly at whichever fist the Rock Titan is about to attack with, and deal more damage by shooting at the heads. Upon dealing enough damage, the Rock Titan will be defeated.

Note that each hit taken by the Rock Titan gives you 1 Tech Point, thus you have an option of returning to the battle with the Rock Titan to level up quickly.
If the Rock Titan still has remaining HP after Mountain Coaster expires, Sora will land next to his feet, with both feet recovering to 50% HP. The HP recovery effect will also occur if 3 minutes have passed since the Rock Titan has fallen back against the mountainside.

Attacks
However, if Sora is unable to use Mountain Coaster due to a PRO Code or out of the player's decision not to, then there is an alternate method for victory. Simply attack the heads with a combo or two, then quickly retreat before it attacks. If the heads come your way, simply use Guard to avoid damage.
The Rock Titan has few attacks, they are also not used very often. The first one consists of a ground attack in which he lifts his hands and pounds the ground releasing a large shockwave that can be easily evaded by jumping. The second attack, similar to the first, consists in the Titan lifting one of his feet and stomping it down. The last (and most powerful) attack appears when he's knocked on the ground and Sora gets the chance to attack his heads; with biting similar to Cerberus' the Titan tries to keep Sora's attacks at bay.

Upon its defeat, Sora will gain a max MP increase.

The Rock Titan first appeared in Hercules as part of Hades' evil plot. When the planets align, it is the opportune time to summon the titans, supposedly. With Hercules' power, Hades destroys the prison in the ocean where the Rock Titan and company was and the titan climbs out of the ocean wreaking havoc on Greece. The titans head for Mount Olympus, where they attempt to get rid of Zeus. Hercules later comes to the rescue by using the Wind Titan to suck the titans up and send them flying into space putting an end to the Rock Titan.
The Rock Titan first appears in Disney's 1997 animated feature, Hercules, voiced by Corey Burton. Known in Disney canon as "Lythos," he wreaks havoc eons before the events of the film, along with his fellow Titans. The Titans' rampage is stopped by Zeus, however, and they are all imprisoned in a cage of lightning deep beneath the sea. Eighteen years after the birth of Hercules, Hades, the Lord of the Dead, steals the young hero's godly strength and uses his power to unleash Lythos and the other Titans. Hades, playing off of the Titans' lust for vengeance against Zeus, then proceeds to use the gigantic creatures to take over Mount Olympus, as it was foretold to him long ago in a prophecy made by the three Fates.

The Rock Titan is an enemy from Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded and Kingdom Hearts III. The Rock Titan makes a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts II during the opening cinematic for the Olympus Coliseum. However, he isn't credited in Jiminy's Journal. It originally appeared in the animated film Hercules, under the name Lythos. He is the final fight in the Hades Cup in Kingdom Hearts, and inhabits Layer 15 of Olympus Coliseum as one of the four sources of bugs in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Following Sora's completion of the Hercules Cup, the Rock Titan appears as the final contender in the Hades Cup. Sora, Donald, and Goofy enters the Hades Match alone and finds the colossal, awaiting them, inside the dim, darkened Coliseum. The group takes the Rock Titan on in battle and proves to be victorious, strengthening their power of teamwork.

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

The Rock Titan is one of the many monsters Hades tries to use to get rid of Hercules. When Sora, Donald, and Goofy enter the Coliseum, Hercules is shown throwing the Rock Titan out of the Coliseum.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded[edit]

The Rock Titan is the one of the four sources of the bugs in Olympus Coliseum, and resides within the Keyhole, on Layer 15. Together, Data-Sora, Data-Hercules, and Data-Cloud are able to defeat him and keep advancing through the world.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Design[edit]

The Rock Titan is a gigantic, bulky creature that seems to be composed entirely of rough, uneven stone. His body is very large and barrel-shaped. His legs are short and its feet are flat, while his arms are relatively long and end in four-fingered hands. He has two comparatively small, draconian heads placed side-by-side on the top of his body. Both heads have thick necks, a peculiar lower jaw with four very large, blunt teeth. His eyes are very small and red, and the inside of both mouths are red as well.

The Rock Titan's name references his stony body, while "titan" is derived from the Titans of Greek mythology, which were loosely represented by the Rock Titan and his companions in Hercules.

Strategy[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Lock-on to one of the Rock Titan's big feet and attack him with combos (such as Ars Arcanum and Graviga). When the Rock Titan falls on his back, use the Superglide ability to float to one of the heads and attack from the far side. Be careful though, as the heads will swing at Sora; Dodge Roll/jump to avoid damage. Beware of the shock waves it releases, a single foot-stomp can deplete more than half of Sora's HP. Make use of Aeroga and heal when necessary.

Alternatively, equip a powerful Keyblade—Lionheart, Oblivion, or Ultima Weapon—and repeatedly attack the legs with Ars Arcanum or Sonic Blade until he falls down. Then, just keep using Ars Arcanum on the heads, as it will deal a large amount of damage. Using this method, the only magic needed is Curaga. However, if Sora uses Aero, he will take damage simply by being close to him. Note each attack grants 1 tech Point.

The Rock Titan has few attacks, which are not used very often. The first one consists of a ground attack in which he lifts his hands and pounds the ground releasing a large shockwave that can be easily evaded by jumping. The second attack, consists of the Titan lifting one of his feet and stomping it down.

The last and most powerful attack appears when he's knocked on the ground and Sora gets the chance to attack his heads; it slams the heads down in an attempt to knock Sora off.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Before facing the Rock Titan directly, Sora must scale the cliff while avoiding the boulders he throws down. After reaching him, Sora must attack both of his feet and damage them enough. During this phase, the Rock Titan attacks by stomping; the player must retreat from that foot to avoid damage. The Rock Titan can also create trails of rising rocks, indicated by a harmless blue trail beforehand.

If the Rock Titan still has remaining HP after Mountain Coaster expires, Sora will land next to his feet, with both feet recovering to 50% HP. The HP recovery effect will also occur if 3 minutes have passed since the Rock Titan has fallen back against the mountainside.

However, if Sora is unable to use Mountain Coaster due to a PRO Code or out of the player's decision not to, then there is an alternate method for victory. Simply attack the heads with a combo or two, then quickly retreat before it attacks. If the heads come your way, simply use Guard to avoid damage.

Upon its defeat, Sora will gain a max MP increase.

Origin[edit]

The titans head for Mount Olympus, where they attempt to get rid of Zeus. After Zeus regained his strength by throwing his thunderbolts at both of the Rock Titan's head, Hercules later comes to the rescue by using the Tornado Titan to suck the remaining Titans up and send them flying into space.
