The Wyvern (飛竜 Hiryū?) is a set of Lances that can be wielded by Xaldin in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It represents Xaldin's personality.

Design

A Wyvern lance is shorter than most of Xaldin's other weapons and has a light grey shaft. Its lower blade is dark red with an orange base and forks into two wing-like prongs. The upper blade is shaped like a stylized dragon's head with a circular, light grey eye and its mouth open. The dragon's head is dark red, while its "neck" is orange with black side edges.

A Wyvern is a type of winged dragon with only legs and no forearms. The name could also be a reference to the "Hiryū" of Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy V, whose name was frequently translated as "Wyvern". As it represents his personality, it could represent his sharp wit, and also his dishonesty, such as when Xaldin lied to the Beast about Belle's supposed treachery, as dragons are often used as a metaphor to represent liars.

Gameplay

Wyvern’s combo starts with a thrust of all six lances forwards, followed by a star-shaped shockwave being emitted from the tips of the lances and ends with up to four consecutive scissor-like attacks, where all six lances thrust forward, cross each other and emit X-shaped shockwaves.

The aerial combo consists of a curved, downward diagonal slash using one lance, followed by another downward diagonal slash using one lance, and ends with a thrust of all six lances forwards at once in a pointed, star-like shape.
