The armor worn by Dark Baymax is purple and fuchsia, as apposed to the red and blue armor worn by Baymax 2.0. The shoulders have spikes, while the visor has horns and purple eyepiece hiding all but the red glowing eyes of Dark Baymax. Contrary to the streamlined wings of Baymax 2.0's armor, Dark Baymax's end in ridges that resemble feathers. The most distinct difference is the large right hand made of Darkubes replacing the gauntlet Baymax lost; it periodically pulses with red energy.

Dark Baymax is a boss in Kingdom Hearts III. It is the original Baymax, corrupted by darkness.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Dark Riku takes the combat chip from the original Baymax and places it in the Darkubes to gather data on hearts as part of an experiment to see if a heart can be created from data. After the Heartless steal enough hearts and cause enough panic throughout San Fransokyo, Dark Riku takes the combat chip back and summons the original Baymax from the alternate dimension, placing the new data inside the empty shell. The Darkubes fuse with Baymax, creating a warped and evil version of the armor the second Baymax wears. Sora and Baymax 2.0 fight Dark Baymax until it is put under enough stress to force it into stasis mode. Hiro Hamada takes out the chip and crushes it. He later creates an identical Baymax program chip to turn the original back to normal. This Baymax is later seen as part of the team.

Design[edit]

The armor worn by Dark Baymax is purple and fuchsia, as opposed to the red and blue armor worn by Baymax 2.0.

Strategy[edit]

For this boss battle, Sora is locked into the Interceptor Wing Team Attack. While he can use Care Spray to heal, he cannot use magic, Formchanges, items, or Link Summons.

The first phase begins with an on-the-rails shooting segment, in which Sora and Baymax pursue Dark Baymax through the streets. Sora can use the Shoot command to open fire on Dark Baymax. Throughout the segment, Dark Baymax attacks by summoning Darkubes; the transparent ones can be destroyed while the more solid ones can be repelled back at the boss to deal damage with the Strike command.

When Dark Baymax is reduced to 50% HP or after 2 minutes and 10 seconds pass, the second phase begins where Sora and Baymax corner Dark Baymax in the South District. Dark Baymax has a myriad of attacks in this phase, being able to perform a three-hit combo, rush at the duo, fire a beam of darkness, or summon Darkubes to attack. Throughout this phase, Sora has access to the Sky Strike Situation Command, which is identical to Interceptor Wing's finish command. Gaining access to this Situation Command involves either unleashing physical combos on Dark Baymax, or parrying the solid Darkubes back at the boss. After Dark Baymax attacks once or twice, it floats idly for 5 seconds.

When Dark Baymax is reduced to 30% HP, and every 30 seconds thereafter, it attacks in the following sequence: Dark WingD Cube MineBoost Attack x3 → D Cube ShotD Cube Needle x3 each in an alternating pattern.

If Sora retries the fight during the second phase, Dark Baymax will start with 1760 HP.

It often tends to attack aggressively, so be ready to dodge if it approaches Sora and Baymax. The most important thing to note is to keep firing at Dark Baymax, dodge if necessary, and build up Sky Strike to deal damage.
