The Black Guards are antagonists that appear in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. They originated from the Disney film, Tron: Legacy.

Development

In the Jump Festa 2012 trailer, Riku is mounted on a light cycle while fighting a Black Guard in The Grid. In a scan, Riku is seen being held by several guards.

Story

Some Black Guards find Riku and mistake him for a program. They attempt forcing him into the Rectifier, but he brushes them off and boards willingly, knowing he can leave the world at ease. They are later made to race Riku in a Light Cycle race, but are easily defeated.

They also encounter Sora and try stopping him from progressing frurther into The Grid, but are all beaten.

Appearance

They all wear black suits with orange circuitry to show they've been reprogrammed by CLU. They wear helmets to prevent originality. Unlike Rinzler, they are all unifrom in appearance. They carry staffs with orange circuits. Their pack sprut orange wings to allow flight.
