Kingdom Hearts III |
Frozen (2013) A young man we saw taking Elsa away from the ice palace. Darkness seemed to have a hold on him. |
Hans is a character of Arendelle introduced in Kingdom Hearts III, and originates from the Disney film Frozen.
Story
Kingdom Hearts III
When Sora, Donald, and Goofy prepare to return Elsa's Ice palace to speak with her, they notice Hans carrying an unconscious Elsa from the distance and wonder who he is. Goofy assumes he was someone from Arendelle who came to help her, but Sora and Donald think otherwise with the latter noticing darkness surrounding his body.
When Sora reunites with Kristoff he tells Sora that he had to return Anna back home to Arendelle, to be with Hans.
As the trio and Marshmallow return back to Arendelle, Anna notices Hans ready to kill Elsa and jumps in front of Hans' sword path, completely freezing solid just before Hans' blade strikes her and shatters. Anna's freezing causes a shockwave, knocking Hans and rendering him unconscious. When Sora, Donald and Goofy arrive they see Hans' unconscious body shrouded by darkness and trap the trio into a dark area eventually turning into Sköll Heartless.
Appearance
Hans is a man with auburn brown hair, sideburns, and green eyes. He wears a gray winter outfit with white gloves and boots.
Personality
Origin
Hans Westergaard first appeared as the main antagonist of the 2013 film Frozen, voiced by Santino Fontana. He is a prince of the Southern Isles and the youngest of thirteen brothers, two of whom pretended he was invisible for two years. This mistreatment has caused Hans to develop a desire to claim the position of ruler of a kingdom, and a plan to conquer Arendelle for his own.
At the start of the film, Hans arrives at Arendelle on the day of Elsa's coronation to claim the throne. Though he initially intends to marry Elsa, he soon sets his sights on her younger sister Anna, who falls in love with him due to her sheltered life and naïveté. After Elsa freezes all of Arendelle, Anna places Hans in charge while she sets off to find Elsa. Hans soon proves to be a benevolent ruler, but when he learns that Anna has gone missing, he ventures into the winter and captures Elsa, seemingly to end Elsa's eternal winter. Anna suddenly returns, having been cursed by Elsa, but Hans reveals his true colors, explaining his intent to kill Elsa and conquer Arendelle as his own. Elsa escapes her prison, and Hans tracks her down and claims that Anna has seemingly died due to Elsa's actions. As she collapses in despair, Hans prepares the killing blow, but Anna sacrifices herself and blocks Hans's sword as she freezes, sending Hans reeling and knocking him unconscious. When he comes to, Elsa has restored Arendelle to normal. A restored Anna confronts him and punches him into the sea, and he is imprisoned to face punishment from his older brothers.
