As per her role, Ava assembled the Dandelions and trained them in a secret location to prepare them for the travel to the world outside when the Keyblade War broke out so that they could ensure the survival of light.

Five individuals were chosen by the Master of Masters to succeed the Foretellers after the Keyblade War; though only one of them would receive a copy of the Book of Prophecies, and they would be the only ones permitted to remember the world the Dandelions left behind. Quest 665: Target: Blitz Spear Pt. 5 Ephemer was the first to be approached by Ava when his curiosity lead him to seek answers about the world. Ephemer then reached out to Skuld so that she would follow the same path as him and join the Dandelions, with Skuld destined to become one of the new Union leaders. Strelitzia was the final Dandelion to be approached by Ava, but in trying to convince Player to join the Dandelions, Quest 726: Daybreak Town Heartless Hunt Pt. 1 she was eliminated by an unknown individual, who then stole her rulebook and took her place as Union leader. Quest 730: Target: Silver Hammer Frame Pt. 2 Brain, Ventus, and Lauriam would later gather in the Keyblade Graveyard as the new Union leaders, though it is unclear which of them is the impostor.

With a Union χ instituted, the Dandelions would be allowed to work with one another, regardless which Union they were loyal to, to continue maintaining the balance by collecting Lux.

After the war to celebrate their new status, Ephemer and the othersthe Dandelions were given new companions to help them fight against the nightmares. Continuing to follow Ava's instructions, Ephemer considers what to do about organizing the Shift Pride, which would pit the Dandelions against one another as a competition. Lauriam unintentionally inspires Ephemer to consider an alternative, but before progressing, they hold a vote, with Ephemer, Lauriam, and Brain being in favor of the Shift Pride, while Ventus and Skuld oppose it. Ephemer reveals his intention to access the data of the Dandelions recorded through their adventures across the worlds rather than having them fight each other personally.

While the Dandelions relived through their previous adventures, Lauriam tried his best to look for a missing member his younger sister Strelitzia. However, their peacefulness wouldn't last forever, soon glitches started to appear all over Daybreak Town and through Brain's investigations he believed that it was Darklings and a new world that wasn't suppose to exist yet to be the cause. Much more so that they were all trapped in a data version of the town and soon discovered they weren't alone, in helping Lauriam trying to find his sister. They discovered that before Strelitzia tried to leave she wanted to induct Player into the group to save them from the war. But being aware that Player was here and yet she wasn't with them Brain knew that something was wrong using a memo given to him by Ava his suspicions were true. Gathering the new Union leaders together, Brain asked them about their encounter with Master Ava but upon hearing that Ventus' encounter was different Brain admits that Ven was never meant to be a Union leader and that Strelitzia was making him the imposter. Knowing that this wasn't Master Ava's doing Brain realized before they all left for the new world Darkness followed them and replaced Strelitzia with Ventus.

Understanding that Ventus wasn't aware of this, Brain had him clarify his encounter with him remembering meeting the foreteller in an abandoned warehouse and left together not recalling much else except for seeing Strelitzia die. Returning to the clock tower while the strain of Ventus remembering him to sleep, the others figured out that the Darkness used him to carry out the deed and was still inside of him but they had no idea why. Soon Lauriam entered the room injured and angry believing that his comrades had something do Strelitzia's disappearance but before they could explain a grief stricken Ventus admits to the evil deed much to the others' protest. To make matters even worse being put under the strain again causes Ven to go unconscious as the Darkness emerged from me.
