The Fairy Stars is a Keychain for Terra's, Ventus's, Aqua's, and Player's Keyblades that appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Union χ.

Design

The Fairy Stars' design differs depending on its upgrades, most of which are seen in Kingdom Hearts Union χ. It is modeled after Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, sporting their respective color schemes. It was at one point planned to appear in Kingdom Hearts χ, and sprites for the first and third upgrades still exist in the game files.

The default Fairy Stars consists of a thin, red bar that serves as the handle and the blade. The guard consists of two curves, one blue and one green, that curve near the base of the handle. Two yellow stars decorate the base of the blade, with a large, bronze, four-pointed star connected to the end of the main blade. The teeth consist of a single red star. The Keychain has a series of yellow and grey links, and the token is Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather's hats stacked together.

The first upgrade has the blue and green guards extend to become part of the blade while the red rod fades to gold. The star in the blade's base is brighter and has two fairy wings. The guard now has two stars at the base. The blade's tip is now a silver, eight-pointed star, with three of the points showing three stars total- one green, one red, and one blue- acting as the teeth. The Keychain's links are silver, and the token remains the same.

The second upgrade, also seen in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, has the blue and green guards separated from the red rod. The star in the blade's base is bigger. The blade's tip is a golden eight-pointed star inside a silver circle. The Keychain is golden, and is three star-shaped links. Its token has fairy wings on Flora's hat.

The third upgrade has the blue and green rods wrap around the red-black rod in a helix-shaped formation. The stars on the blade's base and the guard are now blue. The blade's tip is blue with yellow rays emanating from it, with the teeth also being blue. On the token, Fauna's hat has a slight redesign, being taller, while Flora's hat has silver wings.

The fourth upgrade has the Keyblade as a whole take on a brighter color scheme. The red rod gradually fades to black, connecting to a larger, golden star with black and silver circles. The stars on the teeth are all golden, and linked through a black, lighting-shaped flourish. The star on the blade's base appear every time the three rods intersect. When the blue and green rods connect to the giant star, the tips manifest as clouds. The Keychain is a golden string featuring the stars. On the token, Flora's hat has golden wings.

The fifth upgrade wraps the Keyblade in a golden aura, with a lens flare near the blade.

The Fairy Stars' name is a reference to Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, the three good fairies from the Enchanted Dominion. "Star" reflects the numerous stars worked into the Keyblade's design, which are in turn a reference to the sparkles that Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather's magic generate. Template:Section-stub
