Story

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

As Riku tries to wake Sora from his deep sleep, the Anti Black Coat appears. Riku accuses it of causing Sora's nightmare, and they engage in battle. Riku emerges victorious and the Anti Black Coat vanishes.

Design

As its name implies, the Anti Black Coat wears a garment of the same name. Its hood is up, showing none of its face save for its disk-shaped red eyes - matching the description of Vanitas prior to Ventus's connection with Sora - signature of a Nightmare Dream Eater. The Coat has magenta flame designs printed on the sleeves and around the bottom coattails. Prior to its fight with Riku, the Nightmare emblem appears on its back, mirroring the Spirit emblem on the back of Riku's outfit.

Strategy

The Anti Black Coat's attacks are very powerful and will often reduce Riku to 1 HP. Riku should focus on dodging the attacks, especially by using Doubleflight. It frequently breaks out of combos, so Riku should instead use quick, powerful commands, or commands that can home in on the Anti Black Coat or otherwise be used at long range. It's certainly tough and can easily defeat you if you get careless or lack the proper abilities. You have constantly dash about to prevent the Nightmare's attacks from hitting you. The real problem is his desperation attack where he shoots out a line, and should it hit you, it will drains all but one of your health — and then drop it all over the arena as HP orbs, which the Nightmare can pick up very quickly. Rather than running out of time in a battle to pick up your own health, this often leaves a massive opening. Anti Black Cloak's M.O. is, however, the constant spamming of Poison. Be it Poison Edge or a laser barrage that somewhat resembles Young Xehanort's Slow Spell, getting hit by the Nightmare's attacks itself is often dangerous enough. Thankfully, this laser attack's accuracy compared with his other attacks is often far more moderate. Any Dream Eater that has long range attacks and/or healing abilities is good for this battle. Leaf Bracer and Poison Block are almost always mandatory abilities to have for this battle. Template:Section-stub
