Composition

"Thirteenth Discretion" is approximately one minute and twelve seconds long and plays at a tempo of 108 beats per minute. It is in 4/4 time and appears to be atonal. "Thirteenth Discretion" does not have an introduction or conclusion, allowing for smooth transitions between loops. The instrumentation consists entirely of strings, with basses and cellos using bows, and half of the violins using pizzicato while the other half uses bows.

The piece gives off a very ominous feeling. The pizzicato strings play a chromatic ostinato while the lower strings provide a low drone. The atonality adds to the general sense of wrongness.
