Eugene Fitzherbert, also known as Flynn Rider, is a character from the Kingdom of Corona in Kingdom Hearts III. He originated in the Disney film Tangled.

Story

Kingdom Hearts III

Flynn flees from Heartless in a forest, but is rescued by Sora, Donald, and Goofy. After his rescue, he slinks away and enters a nearby tower where he meets Rapunzel and Pascal. Using a tiara he stole, Rapunzel blackmails him to help her embark on a journey to see the flying lanterns. Later, Flynn is persuaded by Rapunzel to let Maximus come along.

At Corona, Flynn and Rapunzel are able to see the lanterns. However, he mysteriously leaves with his crown on a boat which breaks her heart. Unknown to Rapunzel, he has been tied-up by Marluxia. Flynn is caught by the police and is sentenced to death for his crimes by hanging. However, he manages to escape his death sentence with Maximus and returns to the tower where he finds Rapunzel bound and gagged by Mother Gothel. As he enters, Gothel stabs him from behind, leaving him to die on the floor.

Rapunzel tells Gothel that if she lets her heal Flynn with the powers of her hair, Rapunzel will do whatever Gothel ask, even sacrificing her freedom for the rest of her life. Gothel accepts and while trying to help Flynn, he tells her that if Rapunzel heals him, she will die. Having realized that Gothel has used Rapunzel for her hair's healing properties, he chops off her hair with a mirror shard, causing her blonde hair to become brunette and removing its healing properties, causing Gothel to die.

Rapunzel cries as Flynn dies, although her tears caused her remaining power to revive Flynn. Rapunzel leaves the tower with Flynn.

Appearance

Flynn is a young man with brown hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He wears a long-sleeved white shirt rolled up to his forearms, with a turquoise vest on top. He has a small satchel belted around his waist on the left side, brown pants and boots.

Personality

Flynn has a somewhat selfish and narcissistic personality, although this gradually changes.

Abilities

Origin

Flynn first appeared in the 2010 Disney animated film Tangled in 2010, voiced by Zachary Levi.

In Tangled, Flynn is introduced as a young man who rescues Rapunzel from imprisonment. He rides a horse named Maximus, although Flynn does not own Maximus and they start out with a hostile relationship. His birth name is Eugene Fitzherbert. He changed his name to Flynn Rider, stemming from his orphaned childhood upbringing and being enamored by a book called "The Tales of Flynnigan Rider" about a legendary and powerful adventurer.

Flynn is inspired by the Prince from the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale.
