According to Chirithy, Invi was originally one of the six apprentices of his creator, the "Master of Masters". Shortly thereafter, the Master gives a copy of the Book of Prophecies to Invi and grants her leadership over the Anguis Union as its Foreteller. As Invi and the other Foretellers read their copies of the Book of Prophecies, they are shocked by the final entry, which details an event known as the Keyblade War, during which light would expire and the world would reach its end.

Over time, the Foretellers notice Keyblade wielders utilizing bangles that provides them the power to collect dark energy, though they decide that using the bangles was acceptable for their Union members. Subsequently, Ira summons the Foretellers for a meeting in the Foretellers' Chamber, declaring that there is a traitor among them after discovering a Nightmare Chirithy snooping around their home. When Gula proposes to have each of the Foretellers summon their Spirits to prove their innocence, Invi points out that they could easily summon a Chirithy that is not a Nightmare. Ava proposes that the Nightmare could belong to a wielder in one of their Unions, though Ira reasons that the bangles are the Nightmare's doing and the traitor has to be one of the Foretellers since only one of them could have obtained the bangles. Invi refutes Ira's claims, as there is no evidence to support his theories. Aced condemns Ira for spreading doubt amongst them, but Invi silences him, prompting Aced to adjure the meeting. Invi questions Ira's strange behavior, who then confides in Invi about the existence of the Lost Page, an entry which depicts the events surrounding the traitor that has been excluded from the Foretellers' copies of the Book of Prophecies. As Ira believes the traitor is whomever is in possession of the Lost Page, Invi begins to wonder if providing the Lost Page to only one of the Foretellers was done intentionally by the Master. Invi promises to keep an eye on the others and reports their actions back to Ira.

After a long day of pursuing Minute Bomb Heartless, Player returns home for some much needed rest. That night, while Player sleeps, they dream of the Clock Tower, where they see all five Foretellers meeting with someone in a Black Coat, Unknown. Before Player can investigate however, they are surrounded by Darkness and pulled out of the dream; finding Chirithy to be sitting in the room with them when they wake. Chirithy asks what had happened, as it looked as though Player was having a pretty bad nightmare, when Player confirms this, Chirithy advises them to go back to sleep. When Player is sleeping once again, Chirithy turns to the window and asks if he’s right to assume that Chirithy (3) had been the one to get in the way. Chirithy (3) materializes and asks if Chirithy was showing The Player a dream and what it was up to. Coldly, Chirithy claims that his interests are the exact opposite of Chirithy (3). Chirithy (3) sighs and asks if that means that they’ll become enemies before disappearing again. Turning to Player, Chirithy asks itself whether or not it will be able to protect them.

|When Neoshadows appear in Daybreak Town, Player joins three other Keyblade wielders to stop the darkness from spreading by the new species of Heartless; however, Player is the only survivor. After Chirithy witnesses another of its kind fade, Invi appears to speak with Player, revealing that while the Keyblade wielders are gathering Lux at an amazing rate, the darkness is spreading even faster. Chirithy asks if that means that there really is a traitor among them, to which Invi states that she is not willing to believe that yet.Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

Returning from their mission at Beast's Castle, an exhausted Player and Chirithy encounter another Keyblade wielder named Skuld, who wonders why the Unions are competing for the collection of Light when all the Unions have similar goals, reasoning that at some point people sought to outdo one another and that may have changed their goals ultimately. Abruptly, Skuld asks if she’s right to assume that Player knows Ephemera – shocking both Player and Chirithy – though Skuld explains that she knew Ephemera because they were from the same party. Continuing, Skuld explains that Ephemera had become a Keyblade wielder not long ago, and recently he’d left their party. Skuld admits that the next part is the most important, revealing that Ephemera has since visited her in her dreams and instructed her to help Player. When Chirithy asks why Ephemera would ask her to do such a thing, Skuld admits that she doesn’t know, though ever since Ephemera disappeared she’s felt as though she’s passed by him a hundred times – though he’s never greeted her, and she’s unsure why he’s appearing to her through her dreams; so she’s not even sure why she’d meant to work with Player. Ultimately she’d sought out Player in hopes that they might know something. Player then explains to Skuld that Ephemera’s appeared to them through their dreams as well. Happy to be finally getting somewhere, Skuld asks what Ephemera said and what kind of dream he’d appeared in. When Player explains the dream to Skuld, Skuld is intrigued by the fact that Ephemera had said that he’d be waiting for Player. Skuld then suggests that they return to the place Player went to with Ephemera once more, though Chirithy says that they can’t – as Master Ava had barred them from doing so. However, Skuld suggests that this is because there’s something there; believing that the reason Ephemera wanted her to work alongside Player likely has something to do with that. Skuld then mentions that there’s something else as well, only to be interrupted by a large crashing. Realizing that the sound came from nearby, Skuld summons her Keyblade and suggests that they investigate, with Player and Chirithy following close behind.
One night, Player is shown a dream by Chirithy, in which Invi and the other Foretellers meet with the Master in the Foretellers' Chamber, though Nightmare Chirithy quickly puts a stop to this dream.Quest 351: A Job Never Done Pt. 1
Skuld, Player and Chirithy are brought to a stop when they see that the source of the crashing was in fact Master Invi and the Ursus Foreteller, Master Aced, battling across the rooftops of Daybreak Town. Skuld questions why the Foretellers are fighting one another, stating that it seems as though Ephemera was right; confusing Player and Chirithy. Skuld reveals that what she was going to say earlier was actually something that Ephemera told her in her dreams; that the end of the world was drawing near. Chirithy asks what Skuld means, and while she doesn’t know, she does remark on how the end always comes suddenly and without warning – similarly to how Ephemera disappeared.

A few days later, Aced asks to meet with Invi, Ava, and Gula in a warehouse to form an alliance between their Unions. When Invi arrives, Aced reveals his alliance with Gula and extends the offer to her as well, but Invi rejects him, seeing this as a defiant act in pursuit of power and accusing that Aced has been tainted by darkness. Conversely, Aced retorts that it is Invi who has been tainted by darkness, as she reports their actions back to Ira and could possibly be conspiring with him. With this, Invi parts ways with her fellow Foretellers.

Invi reports back to Ira about Aced and Gula's alliance. Although Ira assumes that Aced is the traitor, Invi argues that Aced's intentions indicate otherwise. As Aced is betraying the Master's teachings, Invi volunteers to persuade Gula to sever his alliance with Aced, believing that Ira's intervention will only make things worse. Invi also mentions that Aced has begun to question their relationship, and as such, her reports to Ira will be less frequent.

After witnessing Master Invi and Master Aced's battle and encountering the Black Garment Heartless and Nightmare Chirithy, Player and Skuld continue to the waterways where Player had last seen Ephemera. Skuld asks for confirmation that this is where Player had last seen Ephemera - admitting that she's sure that there's something secret ahead. Before Player and Skuld can continue however, Chirithy blocks their path and asks if they truly intend to keep going even with everything that they'd just seen, admitting that he has an awful feeling about all of this; looking to his feet while Player attempts to comfort him. Skuld asks if she's right to assume that Chirithy knows the layout of the Clock Tower's internal structure, which Chirithy confirms, only for Skuld to order him to lead them onward. Relenting, Chirithy agrees to Skuld's request, reminding Skuld and Player that going further into the Clock Tower really is forbidden, so they have to come right back after a quick peek inside; which Skuld promises to do.

As the three reach the room from Player's dream, Skuld asks where they are, and Chirithy explains that it is the last room - the Foretellers' room - prompting Skuld to question whether or not Ephemera made it that far. Given the situation, Chirithy mentions how, as they could see, there's no one there, and since they are not going to mess around with the things left in the room, it's time for them to go back as promised; stressing how they'd be in serious trouble if anyone found them up there. Skuld reluctantly agrees with Chirithy before taking another quick look around to be sure that there's really nothing up there, admitting that it feels as though they have been side-stepped, causing her to wonder what the dream with Ephemera really meant.
|After Player successfully completes the Dark Corridor Trials, Chirithy reports back to Invi, who is pleased to hear of their progress, but Chirithy questions the wisdom of assigning them such a dangerous mission. Invi laments that she has no choice but to hasten Player's training, as she must strengthen their resistance to darkness as quickly as possible and obtain as many warriors as they can get on the side of light.Quest 500: Corridor of Darkness Pt. 10

A few months later, Invi convinces Gula that his alliance with Aced since the latter had yet to rally anyone else to his cause and there had been no incidents since Ira captured the Nightmare Chirithy. Soon after Gula dissolves the alliance, an enraged Aced attacks Invi for her interference. Invi defends that she is protecting the balance of power as the Master ordered them to, but Aced remains adamant that they need to defy the Master's teachings to protect the world and create alliances against the looming darkness. Invi deems Aced to be the traitor and attacks him with her Keyblade. When Ava and Gula arrive at the scene and join Invi in her fight against him, Aced launches himself into a vicious battle with his former comrades.
Just then, a voice comes from behind the group, as Master Invi ventures in from the shadows and asks what Player and Skuld think they are doing. Skuld asks Invi to excuse them, as they are looking for a friend of theirs. Master Invi simply asks how Player and Skuld could've possibly gotten in there if Chirithy was accompanying them - only for Chirithy to apologize for bringing them. Walking past Player, Invi reveals that there was another trespasser a few days before, wondering if they were a friend of theirs, which Player confirms. Skuld then asks if Invi knows Ephemera, prompting Invi to elaborate that Ephemera belonged to a Union which was in direct conflict with their own goals as a Union, suggesting that Ephemera must have gotten close to Player and Skuld in order to gather information about their Union. Coldly, Invi states that there was no way they would be seeing Ephemera ever again. Skuld, realizing what Invi is getting at, hastens to admit to herself that Invi had gotten rid of Ephemera. Invi confirms that he'd had Ephemera disappear, prompting shock and concern from Player, Skuld and Chirithy. Skuld insists that Invi won't get away with this, only for Invi to ask what Skuld thinks she's going to do about it. Chirithy then motions to stop Skuld, telling her that she can't and informing Invi that it's his fault and that he is the one responsible for everything that's happened, begging Invi to forgive Player and Skuld.

Player then steps out in front of Chirithy, looking to Invi and stating that, until today, they'd devoted themselves to their Union, to gathering Light in order to save the world and they had even competed against fellow Keyblade wielders that they think of as friends. Originally, they had thought that it was just what had to be done in order to save the world, and so they had tried not to dwell on what it meant, but at the same time someone had asked him that same simple question ("What are you going to do about it?") and that person was none other than Ephemera. Player admits that their encounter with Ephemera was brief, and that Ephemera had even broken a promise with Player - so their memories of Ephemera aren't all good - but they are huge and important to their heart. Player continues, saying that their sure it's because Ephemera was his friend, and that even if these feelings of anger and sadness signify Darkness, simply pushing them away is impossible. Player states that even if it came to crossing their Keyblade against Master Invi, they don't think they'd come away from it with any kind of peace. Perhaps it'd mean they would disappear as well, yet their sure that if Ephemera were there he would do the same. Preparing his stance for battle, Player beckons Master Invi forward into battle, prompting Invi to summon his Keyblade and launch herself into battle against Player.

She accuses Ephemer of having befriended the Player solely to acquire information, and states that she eliminated Ephemer for this suspicion. Although Chirithy assures Invi that will not retaliate against him, Player decides to avenge Ephemer, but Invi emerges as the victor. Ava snaps at Invi, explaining that is the role she has been assigned by the Master. Invi apologies for her words and inquires about Gula and her confrontation with Ira. As Ava discloses Gula's plot to summon Kingdom Hearts by collecting Lux, Invi realizes that Aced and Ira are gathering light to maintain the balance, but worries that doing so will hasten the Keyblade War. Invi decides that she will also collect Lux to maintain the balance of power and advises that Ava do the same to delay the Keyblade War for as long as possible.

Despite putting up a good fight against Master Invi, Player is easily defeated. Following the battle, Player is engulfed in a blinding light, which fades to reveal that they are back in the waterways alongside Skuld and Chirithy. Invi's fighting style revolves around the usage of magic and, in particular, elemental magic, being able to transform Aced's attack into water with a single swing. She is capable of using all the elemental spells at their highest rank in quick succession with no apparent struggle, as she is able to easily conjure fire, wind, ice, and thunder at their max rank at a very fast pace. Invi is also a skilled close-ranged fighter, as she is able to block several Aced's attacks and ultimately being able to land a such powerful hit on her opponent that he is barely able to stand up.

Story[edit]

Before Kingdom Hearts χ[edit]

Invi is given a Keyblade forged from her own heart by the Master of Masters, who takes Invi, Aced, Ava, Gula, Ira, and Luxu as his apprentices. Invi eventually achieves the rank of Keyblade Master alongside her fellow apprentices.[citation needed]

Invi and her fellow Foretellers are soon introduced the Master's latest creation, the Chirithy. Though the Spirit Chirithy are meant to aid Keyblade wielders in their endeavors, the Master warns them that if a wielder falls to darkness, so will their Chirithy, causing them to transform into a Nightmare.

Kingdom Hearts χ[chi][edit]

This information is based on alternate scenes or materials and is only considered in continuity if Player joins the Anguis Union.
Having watched Player defeat countless Heartless throughout Daybreak Town, Invi commends them on their abilities. She suggests that Player should fight alongside the other Anguis Union members to defeat larger Heartless and then leaves them to defeat a Darkside. Once the Darkside is defeated, Invi reappears and warns Player that there are others who collect light for nefarious purposes. Invi allows Player to discern who walks the path of darkness before she departs. Quest 3: Combat 102

When Mickey Mouse arrives in Daybreak Town via Star Shard with Chip and Dale in search of Donald and Goofy, he notes that the Star Shard did not guide him there, remaining unaware that Invi is watching him from a nearby rooftop. Quest 60: The Warehouse Pt. 6

Chirithy asks if that means that there really is a traitor among them, to which Invi states that she is not willing to believe that yet. Quest 250: Heartless Havoc: Fountain Square

One night, Player is shown a dream by Chirithy, in which Invi and the other Foretellers meet with the Master in the Foretellers' Chamber, though Nightmare Chirithy quickly puts a stop to this dream. Quest 351: A Job Never Done Pt. 1

After Player successfully completes the Dark Corridor Trials, Chirithy reports back to Invi, who is pleased to hear of their progress, but Chirithy questions the wisdom of assigning them such a dangerous mission. Invi laments that she has no choice but to hasten Player's training, as she must strengthen their resistance to darkness as quickly as possible and obtain as many warriors as they can get on the side of light. Quest 500: Corridor of Darkness Pt.

When Player, Chirithy, and Skuld enter the Foretellers' Chamber in search of Ephemer, they are caught by Invi. Invi divulges that she caught Ephemer in the Foretellers' Chamber several days before and that Ephemer's Union collects Lux for a reason conflicting with that of the Player's Union. She accuses Ephemer of having befriended the Player solely to acquire information, and states that she eliminated Ephemer for this suspicion. Although Chirithy assures Invi that will not retaliate against him, Player decides to avenge Ephemer, but Invi emerges as the victor. As the Player is cast to the ground, the façade of the Foretellers' Chamber and Invi fades away and the group find themselves still in the sewers in front of Ava, who explains that she disguised herself as Invi in order to test Player and Skuld. Quest 555: The Clock Tower Pt. 10

After Gula is nearly struck down by Aced, Ava takes Gula into hiding, with Invi being the only one made aware of their location. Invi divulges Gula's location to Ira, prompting him to confront Ava a few days later. Afterwards, Ava chides Invi for worsening the conflict between the Foretellers by divulging Gula's whereabouts to Ira, though Invi scoffs at Ava for involving herself in the Foretellers' affairs while she is recruiting Keyblade wielders from different Unions at a secret location.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Invi meets with the other Foretellers, excluding Ava, and Luxu in the Keyblade Graveyard.

Design[edit]

Invi is a young woman who hides her face under a blue snake mask. Her light blue, hooded cloak covers a robe, shirt, and sash that are all a darker shade of bluish purple. Turquoise tassels appear on the front of Invi's cloak.

Invi's name is derived from the word invidia, which means "envy" in Latin and is represented by a snake in the Ancrene Wisse.

Personality[edit]

"Similarly, the virtuous Invi, who wore the mask of the snake, was given her role to watch over the others with a fair eye."
—Chirithy, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover

Invi is an individual with high moral standards. She obeys the Master of Masters without question, and she remains neutral when acting in accordance with the role assigned to her.

She is also shown to be close to Ira as she relays important information to him.

Abilities[edit]

Main article: Invi's Keyblade

Foreteller Invi's Keyblade has a light grey handle, and both its pommel and guard resemble a bough adorned with silver leaves. The guard is open on the teeth side, and the base of this Keyblade depicts a silver cobra with blue eyes whose tail is curled into an "∞" shape. This weapon's shaft is kris-like, has a black fuller, and is decorated with a cream-colored, floral design. Its teeth resemble the pommel and guard in terms of design, and they bear a symbol resembling Terra's mark. Its Keychain is made of small, silver sprigs, and its token is a leaf-like, silver talisman. The talisman itself has a Gazing Eye on it.
