As its name implies, the Anti Black Coat wears [[Black Coat|a garment of the same name]]. Its hood is up, showing none of its face save for its disk-shaped red eyes, signature of a Nightmare [[Dream Eater]]. The Coat has magenta flame designs printed on the sleeves and around the bottom coattails. Prior to its fight with [[Riku]], the [[:File:Symbol - Dream Eater (Nightmare).png|Nightmare emblem]] appears on its back, mirroring the Spirit emblem on the back of Riku's outfit. When performing melee attacks it summons up black and red [[Ethereal Blades]] that it wields in a similar fashion to how Riku wields his Keyblade.

The battle starts with the Anti Black Coat darkening the area around Riku. Riku should maintain his distance when fighting the Anti Black Coat, as the Nightmare warps away rather often, and closing the distance can be tough while the enemy attacks. He can avoid a majority of the boss's attacks with well-timed [[Dodge Roll]]s or [[Dark Barrier]]. To damage the boss, he should prioritize using magic or projectile [[commands]], but at the right timing, that is when the enemy isn't about to teleport. [[Curaga]] is essential during this battle as well, for it can quickly replenish Riku's [[HP]] if he is hit by the Anti Black Coat's "Shadow Steal" technique, that can be avoided by either blocking or dodging forward. The Nightmare can use this technique at any random moment, but noticeably when combined with other attacks (Wild Arcanum excluded) or when he is idling, and if he follows this attack by any other one while Riku is getting freed, it can become a guaranteed [[Game Over]].

The main thing in this battle is to act with caution! The Anti Black Coat has some very powerful attacks that can devastate Riku if caught off guard; however, they can be dodged if prepared. It is advisable to keep moving throughout the battle to avoid getting hit by multiple attacks in quick succession.  The Anti Black Coat has three main attack abilities:  an attack from below, an attack from the front, and one that approaches on the ground in front of you to drain all but 1 HP. All of these attacks can be avoided by dodging. To avoid the attack from below, keep moving until the big shadowy circle appears at your feet, then wait about a second and dodge right before the attack sends out its "tentacles". To avoid the frontal attack, wait until the attack is very close to you in its flight then dodge. The arms should close, missing you. To avoid the draining attack, wait until the attack (a small shadowy blob on the ground connected to the Coat by a shadowy line) gets very close then dodge out of the way, it is recommended to dodge this by dodge rolling forward. It is a good strategy to continue dodging these attacks until you can get close to the Coat to attack him. It is best to use quick, powerful commands because he will often teleport away from you after only one or two hits before launching a melee barrage of his own. When the Coat is running, he is most likely moving in to melee attack you, so be prepared to block and counter.
If he gets struck while near the enemy, most if not all of the HP prizes that get scattered around will be grabbed by the Anti Black Coat if he stays where he is, which will replenish almost all of his HP, and for that reason, Riku shouldn't close the distance unless he can predict an incoming Shadow Steal. Provided Riku has [[Once More]] and [[Second Chance]] equipped, the [[HP orb]]s that are spread across the battlefield can act as a failsafe in case Curaga is still in cool down or if [[Leaf Bracer]] isn't equipped. Riku may as well combine [[Doubleflight]] followed by [[Firaga Burst]] and [[Ice Barrage]] for a temporary safe spot, making him avoid most of the boss's attacks while dealing major damage, as they most of the time cannot get Riku, with the exception of Poison Arrow. Beware that Shadow Steal can still hit Riku while in midair if he isn't at a sufficient height.

The Anti Black Coat Nightmare is a Dream Eater that appears in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. He is the physical manifestation of a nightmare that has trapped Sora.

The Anti Black Coat appears when Riku tries to wake Sora from his deep sleep. He battles the Keyblade wielder and vanishes upon his defeat.

Design[edit]

As his name suggests, the Anti Black Coat wears a black coat. His circular, red eyes are visible from underneath the coat's hood. He bears the Nightmare Dream Eater insignia on his back and magenta flame designs on his sleeves and coattails. His battle stance while holding a blade weapon during Wild Arcanum is identical to that of Young Xehanort.

Strategy[edit]

The battle starts with the Anti Black Coat darkening the area around Riku. Riku should maintain his distance when fighting the Anti Black Coat, as the Nightmare warps away rather often, and closing the distance can be tough while the enemy attacks. He can avoid a majority of the boss's attacks with well-timed Dodge Rolls or Dark Barrier. To damage the boss, he should prioritize using magic or projectile commands, but at the right timing, that is when the enemy isn't about to teleport.
