The Black Guards are the upgraded versions of the original guard programs. They often operate in teams of four. They appear in the Disney film, Tron: Legacy, and will be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Development
In the Jump Festa 2012 trailer, Riku is mounted on a bike light while fighting a Black Guard in the World of Tron: Legacy. In a scan can be seen Riku held by several guards.

The Black Guards are one of the four types of enemies outside the main enemy creatures of the games, the others are Card Soldier, Undead Pirate, and Maleficent's goons.
