Songbird (ハミングバード Hamingubādo?, lit. "Hummingbird") is a Sitar that can be wielded by Demyx in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It can be upgraded to Songbird+.

Design

The Songbird’s headstock is a featureless, pink triangle. The neck of the sitar is black at its top, but is otherwise thin and light lavender. The body is wide and oval-shaped, with two indentations at its top. Like the headstock, the body is rather simple in design, being mainly lavender with indigo edges. It seems to have two white strings, which are anchored to the body by an arrangement of three lilac diamonds near the base. The Overture is nearly identical to the Songbird, save for its color scheme.

A songbird is defined, as the term implies, as a "bird who sings", keeping with the musical theme of Demyx's weapons. A hummingbird is a group of birds that flap their wings extremely fast. The beating of their wings produces a humming noise, hence their name.

Gameplay

Songbird's ground combo starts with Demyx performing a 360° spinning diagonal slash with the tip of the sitar, followed by the same attack, but in the opposite direction. The next move of the combo involves Demyx swinging the sitar by the neck diagonally upward in a baseball bat-like fashion. The combo ends with another 360° spinning attack, after which, Demyx strums the sitar, emitting a yellow shockwave which damages any enemies around him.

The aerial combo consists of a downward diagonal slash with the tip of the sitar, followed by a thrust upward, and ends with four quick blasts of yellow shockwaves in an outward direction. This weapon has no Y combo.
