We <3 E3 It came. We saw. They conquered. After what seems like an eternity, fans have finally seen progress regarding the creation of the upcoming release Kingdom Hearts III! During June's E3 2015 gaming convention, fans were treated to a special trailer and news from series' creator Tetsuya Nomura. Wow. What else is there to say other than "WOW!"? First, let's give a special thanks and shout-out to Goldpanner, Kingdom Hearts Insider, KH13, and other KH sites for the incredible E3 coverage! The new trailer was packed full of exciting information! Before I continue, I cannot stress how crucial it is for you to watch this trailer. If you haven't watched it, watch it now! If you've already seen it, watch it again! <youtube>cK2TwAjTpyM</youtube> Let that sink in for a moment... Now let me point out a few things: File:Pirate Ship KHIII.png Magic. Returning to Sora's arsenal is Fire and Blizzard. Aero is either making a comeback as well, or we have a new type of tornado spell. This new magic attack shown involves Sora summoning a brief gust of wind and releasing it around him. Unlike with aero, this attack follows a more offensive type of spell than defensive. Continuing the elemental trend, a new type of water enemy has appeared in a world based on Disney's Hercules, a film that has been featured in Kingdom Hearts many times before. Said enemies appear encased in orbs of water that they are capable of projecting as a directional attack. In an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki, Nomura explained two of the new gameplay features shown. The first is called "Attraction Flow"; this etymology lines up with the previewed examples of explosive tea cup and roller coaster attacks, which are modeled on attractions from Disney theme parks. The second feature pertains to how Sora moves. Using a system Nomura describes as "free running", Sora's actions now follow an automatic response, meaning his movement will instantly react accordingly to hills, cliffs, and platforms. File:Young Eraqus KHIII.png There is a cutscene between a young Xehanort and a young Eraqus. In the aforementioned interview, Nomura stated that this cutscene will be the opening cutscene for Kingdom Hearts III. Not much was said about this footage, other than it will be longer than what is shown and that the youths' age reflects how far back the story will take place, as well as how it will tie into Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ (more on that game later). New duds! Sora's new look seems to be a hybrid between his Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance clothes. In a different interview, Nomura also shared that, along with Sora's new attire, we might see a return of form changes. Online play? Maybe... but the game's crew cannot say anything for certain at the moment. How about the game environment? Nomura says that, unlike the previous games, Kingdom Hearts III will feature open-ended worlds, with no transitions between stages. If you look closely, you can also spot Sora affecting the environment in the trailer; in summoning a tornado-like spell, Sora not only inflicts damage upon the enemies nearby, but also sways the surrounding blades of grass. Wow. Throughout the gameplay section of the trailer, it is revealed that Sora can transform his Keyblade into a gun and even a cannon! Did you spot the two new Keyblades? While neither of the weapons has been officially named, it does seem as though one of them is sporting a Hercules theme, as seen in the tip of the Keyblade's blade, where Zeus is shown gripping a thunderbolt. This Keyblade has been shown to transform into a chariot that is pulled along by a Pegasus. The other Keyblade follows a simple design, with a noticeable five-pointed star in the center of the blade's tip. It is this Keyblade that has been shown to transform into guns and a cannon. File:Rapunzel's Tower KHIII.png A new world has been revealed! Get ready to explore the realms of Disney's Tangled! As with Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, the Disney worlds Sora visits in Kingdom Hearts III will give him a temporarily ally. On that note, it has also been revealed that summons will be available as well. It's confirmed that there are to be no quick time events [QTE] in Kingdom Hearts III, meaning Reaction Commands are O-U-T out. In development news, gameplay and world assignments have been decided. With the foundational work finished, all that remains is to start plugging in the details of the game. Nomura has also stated in an interview that Kingdom Hearts III is further along in development than the E3-featured Final Fantasy VII remake, which is still in the "beginning stages of development." "A heart is so much more than any system": Voice of Ansem the Wise/DiZ passes away Only halfway through the year and we lose another component of the series. Sir Christopher Lee passed away on June 11th at the age of 93 due to respiratory problems and heart failure. Known by movie fans as Count Dooku or Dracula, Kingdom Hearts fans will remember Lee for voicing the enigmatic researcher Ansem the Wise, aka DiZ. It is with great sadness that we hear of Lee’s passing. Mere words cannot express our gratitude and thanks for his contributions. Thank you.

Kingdom Hearts Rocks the Music World Each year, "Classic FM", a United Kingdom radio station that broadcasts classical music, composes a list of the top 300 classical works, as voted by listeners. Excitingly, for the year 2015, the Kingdom Hearts series' composition made it onto this list at number thirty! While this isn't the first time video game music has made it onto Classic FM's list, it is important to note just what an impact this has. This achievement symbolizes how popular video game music is becoming. Perhaps the greatest result of being honored with such a high place is that video game music is being respected as formal/classical music, and not just unstructured "noise". As for the woman responsible for the beautiful music of Kingdom Hearts, the city of lights has an exciting event planned for this holiday season! Set as a continuation of an orchestral game music series, a concert dedicated to the works of Yoko Shimomura, the beloved Kingdom Hearts composer, will be presented on November 7th at Paris' Salle Cortot venue. Coming Soon To a Phone Near You... Be it a stunt to postpone the release of Kingdom Hearts III or a result of the flood of tweets to "#ChiToTheWest", a new rendition of Kingdom Hearts χ is set to release in 2015! A trailer was shown at E3, composed of many gameplay slides and a few story scenes- one of which hints that there is a traitor among the Foretellers! If you haven't already seen the E3 trailer, check it out! <youtube>_ysvkbFFDPk</youtube> This new adaptation will feature similar plot and gameplay elements to the Japan-exclusive web browser game Kingdom Hearts χ, which is set during the events of the Keyblade War and has been running since mid 2013. Kingdom Hearts χ hosts simple 2D graphics and allows players to take on various challenges and stories as their own, original Keyblade wielding character. For this international release, however, the game will be renamed as "Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ" and will be released for iOS and Android platforms. This will be the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series to be released for smartphones. Like Kingdom Hearts χ, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will be free to play, but will contain in-app purchases. The game will be released first in Japan, but is set for an international release... eventually. The official Kingdom Hearts twitter account announced that Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ's release was set at E3... for North America and Japan. As quoted from the tweet, "availability elsewhere is still TBC". For Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, the card-based battle system of Kingdom Hearts χ will be replaced with medals equipped by the player avatars. For the international release, game servers will be split into different language-specific sections. There has not been much elsa information released regarding this game, but Tetsuya Nomura has hinted that several aspects of this game will point towards the events in Kingdom Hearts III. On other Kingdom Hearts χ, the most recent update to the online game added to Wonderland's story, and introduced a few new cards. One last bit of merchandise news before we part! Yen Press is continuing to pump out more Kingdom Hearts series literature, following the release of the Kingdom Hearts novel back in March. Continuing that trend, the Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories novel is set to be released this September. This novel was initially released in Japan in three volumes- two volumes for Sora's story and one for Riku's. Compiling all three original volumes into one book, this novel will have the expansive size of 600 pages. This release will make an excellent addition to any Kingdom Hearts fan's collection, so don't miss it!

The Underdrome: A new phase of battles has begun, featured tribute singles and character themes. The Kingdom Hearts music train is still chugging along, so head on over to page 6 to find out how to vote! Theme: We've got a new theme! Users Chainoffire, KeybladeSpyMaster, and FinalRest collaborated under the input of other users to roll out a theme that celebrates the latest of the Kingdom Hearts series: Kingdom Hearts χ and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. Head on over to our main page to see the difference! The Beach: After far too long a time going unused, our Beach forums have been opened! The Beach is a place where users can discuss anything unrelated to Kingdom Hearts and we encourage everyone to stop by and get involved in the discussions or, even better, start one of your own! We'd love for the Beach to be a place where users can engage in friendly, exciting conversation, so stop on by! Fantasy Food: Wikia's yearly Fantasy Food competition is on it's way! Nominations are now open, so make sure you head on over to the submission form to nominate the fictitiously delectable Kingdom Hearts treat, sea-salt ice cream! Voting will commence at the end of July, so keep an eye out and be ready to lend the Kingdom Hearts universe a hand! Tumblr: Let's end things with a bit of shameless promotion! The popularity of the Keyhole's official tumblr is steadily rising, and we'd like to extend the invitation to come and say hello. We blog all the best the Kingdom Hearts fandom has to offer, from art to jokes to our own original content. So if you have a tumblr, why not follow us? Or if you don't have a tumblr and you just want to spam our inbox with friendly greetings, we won't object to that either. Deletion Log Although the recent news regarding Kingdom Hearts III is exciting, it has resulted in a bevy of unwanted images in our logs. While it may be tempting to upload any and all images pertaining to the conclusion of the Dark Seeker Saga, only images that show something unique to Kingdom Hearts III should be added to galleries. Also remember than any images added to galleries should have descriptions. The delete button has been hard at work, having eliminated a healthy number of recently uploaded .jpg images. Please remember that no matter their content, .jpg images are not allowed to be uploaded on the Keyhole, and they will be deleted! As outlined on our uploads page, "All files should have the .PNG extension, unless they are animated (these should be given .PNG or .GIF extensions) or music files (these should be given .ogg)." Videos have been heavily featured in our deletion log, due to the Keyhole having a strict no video policy. Because of a recently implemented policy by wikia, videos are now automatically uploaded to the wiki if linked on any page. To prevent the unwanted uploads of videos to the Keyhole, users must use the video template. Any videos will be deleted upon upload. A few duplicate files have also been spotted in the deletion log. Before uploading, please check that an already existing copy of your file does not already exist on our wiki! Duplicate files will be deleted immediately.	Move Log Foreteller's Script has been renamed to Book of Prophecies. Hundreds of images are still being renamed thanks to the effort of those involved in the image cleanup project. To make these helpful users' jobs a little easier, please make sure that you are familiar with the Keyhole's Naming Policy before you upload images in the future. Failure to adhere to our naming policy will result in the deletion of your images. Alternatively, you can help out with the image cleanup project by checking out our Projects page. A few Dream Eater pages and files have been renamed to reflect the creatures' official titles. Please remember to add either the (Spirit) or (Nightmare) tag when uploading Dream Eater renders.	Other Logs Our lovely moderator Aixon has put fantastic effort into creating the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX Original Soundtrack page, leaving only the addition of sample tracks to be done. If you are able to participate in the completion of this page, we encourage your participation. Any help offered will be appreciated! Unfortunately, some users have been banned from the Keyhole because of vandalism. We at the Keyhole have a very low tolerance for article vandalism and vandalizing an article will result in a block or, at the very least, an official warning. If you spot a vandal and would like to report it, let the staff know by visiting our Ban Requests page. As always, the upload log is a popular place to be and we enjoy the steady influx of images we have added to our wiki every day. However, we would like our users to remember our categorization policy when uploading. Failure to upload files into the correct categories will result in deletion of your file.
We have had a low number of new registrations to The Keyhole since the previous edition of the Magazines’ release. However, the wiki has experienced a boost in activity as a consequence of the events of the past few weeks relating to Kingdom Hearts III. Raging Dragon has been a great help since joining mid-June, adding information from the latest Kingdom Hearts III trailer into Sora’s article! Thanks a lot Raging Dragon! Gailjustus has added some interesting suggestions to our Top 10 KHIII worlds list page after joining late June! Not David Brown from the Hypothetical Hurricanes Wiki stopped by mid-July to tell us about this year's Fantasy Food Tournament (check Jiminy's Journal for more info). He is excited to help out and become a part of the community, so make sure you stop by his talk page and say hi! Each month the Keyhole hosts a tea party for all users to get together and discuss wiki related issues. We have recently decided to make our Tea Party articles quarterly affairs, rather than creating a new forum page each month! Below are the important issues that we have discussed. April 2015 – June 2015 Infoboxes for the mini-game pages are still in the works. Let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions for their designs. Taking inspiration from the FFWiki, we'd like to add a new aesthetic to our navigation bars. Unfortunately, our desired effects are only accessible after making certain changes to the mediawiki pages and we haven't yet found someone confident enough to help us with this coding. If you can help us with this task, please leave a message at the tea party, linked above! It was decided that the Dream Eater Galleries would be left as they are, after a discussion related to their worth as single, separate pages. We are currently discussing an alteration to the example image. The image is in dire need of a face-lift. We have taken a hard look at our Galleries, and have found they are overly jumbled in appearance! Do come along and give us your thoughts on what direction we should take with these pages!

What's the latest at the KHWiki? Check out all the recent happenings! Staff: Sadly, KeybladeSpyMaster, one of our helpful administrators, has declared his two-year (possibly permanent) inactivity. Having only been here for a year, KSM headed the very successful MegaProject: Arise and was a driving force behind many renovations and revamps across the wiki. We wish him luck for his future endeavours! Roundtables: Due to a lack of recent success, the wiki's monthly IRC meeting is cancelled for the time being, as decided on this forum. Instead, users are encouraged to take to the forums if they have an issue. You can see the outcome of the latest roundtable below. Kingdom Hearts Fragmented Keys: We've made the decision to not cover Kingdom Hearts Fragmented Keys, due to the large controversy surrounding its authenticity. Mobile Site Improvement: The KHWiki has implemented a new viewing mode for mobile. We've made improvements to the system, including a new mobile-specific site message. On top of all that, we're still tackling our projects, which you can view at (and participate in) Merlin's House and the Vacant House! Happy editing!

This is the spot where we show our appreciation to all the new editors that have joined us in the past three months. Who does the spotlight shine on this issue? Purpleflamecyndaquil made his account in February and, judging from the impressive manga chapter articles he has written from scratch since joining, is a huge manga fan. SuperLuigiBros2013 also joined in February and has since added some much needed Kingdom Hearts χ information to the Wonderland page. Eden joined us in March, although she has owned an account at the Keyhole since 2008. Thus far, she has contributed to numerous discussions and gifted the community with tons of Vexen quotes. DAnonymous318 became a KHWikian in May, quickly rallying to the humble rank of wiki gnome. In addition to masses of grammar and technical edits, DA318 has also contributed quality strategies to our enemy articles. To all these newcomers and the ones that we haven't had the time to mention, we offer you a very warm welcome!

Care to add your two pence? Roundtables are meetings held on the #KHWiki-noticeboard IRC channel. They are currently disbanded, but below you can see the important policies we have decided upon at our last meeting. April 3, 2015 The Staff Policy will not have requirements for staff numbers. The Staff Policy is implemented as otherwise rewritten. Operation: Keychain items have been postponed due to lack of attendance from both wikis. Consideration will be given to the idea of collaborating with the Final Fantasy Wiki for the Twilight Times.

Gravity vs Magnet

Right, Magnet! Aside from having cooler practical demonstrations in science, Magnet has the advantage of pulling enemies from everywhere, rather than a single spot. And all wizards are secretly lazy. True, but Gravity makes sure we don't fall of the planet. Besides, it is way more powerful (sometimes). Exactly, Gravity is only more powerful on occasion. If you wanna clear away the small fry, you'll get nowhere. Small fry can be easily beaten without magic. Remember those nasty Defender-guys? Just cast Gravity and you can literally walk over them. True, but that's just the one enemy. What other instances is it useful? Have you ever seen treasure chests floating around? Gravity can bring them down without breaking them. I bet your Magnet can't do that. That is a very good point, but REALISTICALLY, a strong enough magnetic force should have the same strength as gravitational force to pull down the chest anyway. Yeah, but since magnets draw things to you, you'll probably hit yourself in the face with the chest. And it would hurt. Welp, in that case, gravity would affect you too and you'd be sucked into the ground xD. No one wants to see ThePancakeHero. That would be a great name for a pancake restaurant, though. xD. WELL, clearly this debate has gone far awry. I still hold onto the fact that Magnet is the best for crowd control. This was about the best magic for crowd control? Well, yes, Gravity won't win that. But it's great for getting around annoying enemies. Yup, I accept that 100%. AND THE WINNER IS... You decide! Head on over to the magazine talk page to let us know who you think should win!

by TheFifteenthMember Complete with a biker helmet. From Sora's buddy to Ansem's chum, from a blindfold to a dark hold, Riku's been through a lot. He's a savvy Keyblade Master now and that's all that matters! But Riku is more than just a keyblade wielding ex-vessel. Riku is a superhero. How much of superhero? Well, let's talk about how Riku sizes up to the popular comic book heroes of today. Let me tell you how everybody's favorite teenage darkness-lover fits in with the justice crusaders we know and love... A six-pack at the tender age of fifteen? First, let's examine the elements of an essential superhero factor: the "origin story". Riku's is a dark, broody tale that fits the anti-hero mold. His is a story of friendship, corruption, and betrayal. Riku's often the superior in his friendship between Sora, but as is well established in the KH fan world, it's Sora and Kairi who are the couple. Unfortunately, Riku's lust for power and, most probably, Kairi's heart (excuse the pun) takes him down an evil route at the very beginning of the series. His actions trigger a journey that we get to watch unfold, as Riku is forced to recuperate from his choices in the following games. He's truly regretful for his actions and showcases almost-desperate determination to vanquish the darkness within him. I can imagine that being his drive to fight crime in the modern day; evil-stopping is solidarity for his reform and a promise to never deteriorate his character again. You know what else is an important superhero factor? The costume. Look at Riku's costume! Every superhero needs a good suit. Riku is no stranger to spandex. If he lost the awkward skirt, Dark Mode would be the perfect costume for the darker side... except Riku isn't a villain. Vanitas already has the villain look spot on. But, with a lighter color scheme and a more inspiring emblem, et voila! Riku has his super-suit. And maybe the regular dark mode suit Riku is something for an alternate universe plotline? Finally, we get to the big guns: Riku's powers and gadgets. How would they fit into the modern day superhero context? Graciously, the Way to Dawn is one of the few Keyblades that resembles actual swords. You can bet bad guys would be taking Riku seriously when he's swinging that around. So that's how superheroes suit up so quickly... Riku has an uncanny knack for sniffing out darkness, which may actually be useful in detecting deceit or evil intent. He can use magic! For a comic book explanation, Riku could be able to channel the unpredictable dark energy found in atoms into fireballs and barriers. He can even open Corridors of Darkness, ripping through time and space for quick travel. These powers actually fit in quite well with the supernatural, magic-y section of the DC Universe (Wonder Woman, Trigon etc.). Already agile and muscular, Riku is more than capable of climbing buildings and running across pipes. Parkour, an often used tool in the superhero toolkit, would be redundant for him, however, as Riku is able to glide. With those points in mind, what do you think of superhero Riku? Nothing left for me to do, but...go away." — Data-Roxas to Data-Sora Today I would like to focus on the events of the most recent Kingdom Hearts cinematic movie, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, as shown in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. More specifically, I want to look into the role that Data-Roxas and Data-Naminé had to play in the events towards the end of the movie. I will be attempting to illustrate the way in which the events in the data version of Castle Oblivion relate to Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, and the upcoming title, Kingdom Hearts III. Now, I am aware that to many, many Kingdom Hearts fans across the world, Re:coded has always been a dark spot on the horizon. The reasons for this dislike are manyfold, but criticism is primarily related to the fact that Re:coded added very little to the storyline of the Kingdom Hearts series, and was thus described as "pointless". This, however, was changed significantly with the most recent cinematic. Though a tad long-winded at times, the latter part of the movie certainly makes up for any bad feelings that the first segments of the film muster up. To any of you reading this without having seen the movie, I would highly recommend sitting down with some popcorn and watching it before we continue. Now, after the Datascape has been cleared of bugs and glitches and it has been reset, Data-Riku, along with Mickey and company, notice the emergence of a new world which had previously been hidden to them. This new world is a data version of Castle Oblivion, which the team decide to enter, believing it to be the key to understanding the mysterious, cryptic message left in Jiminy's Journal: "Their hurting will be mended when you return to end it.". With guidance from Mickey, Data-Sora is once again called upon to fulfill this task, and it is this that leads to the crux of my discussion. During the events of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, in The World That Never Was, Sora finds himself dreaming. Inside the dream, he encounters Xion, marking her first appearance since Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. This provokes a reaction from the Roxas within Sora, in the form of tears. Moments later, Sora meets Roxas himself. An exchange occurs between them, which ends with the transfer of Roxas's painful memories into Sora. This, however, was in no way a coincidence; the events of Re:coded have already set the scene for this memory transfer perfectly. Data-Roxas appears before Data-Sora in the Castle Oblivion Datascape world, and begins to guide a confused Data-Sora through the floors. His role? To show Data-Sora the meaning of hurt and help him understand it. In doing this, Data-Roxas will know whether the real Sora is ready to take on board the painful memories which Roxas had accumulated within himself during his short life. But this is no easy process. Data-Roxas has to be absolutely certain that Sora is capable of retaining the memories that the real Roxas holds within him, without giving darkness a foothold in the Keyblade wielder’s pure heart. The floors through which Data-Roxas guides Data-Sora hold illusions of characters which the real Sora knows well from his many journeys throughout the Kingdom Hearts universe. These characters are Sora’s friends, whom he should remember in an instant! Though it is because of the nature of Castle Oblivion that this is not the case. Upon being questioned by Data-Roxas, Data-Sora finds himself unable to recall a single name from those that he had been talking to just moments before. Here, Data-Roxas acts as the antagonist, as he tries to impress on Data-Sora that the knowledge that his having forgotten the names of his friends will bring him hurt, which will in turn introduce darkness into his heart. "The sadness of knowing you forgot someone who matters to you." —Data-Roxas to Data-Sora There does, however, seem to be more to Data-Roxas' actions than just this "test". This whole sequence of events also seems to be a ploy to make someone else see and feel the pain that the non-Data Roxas has experienced. This is entirely understandable, as Roxas has lived through many sad and painful events. Perhaps Roxas, too, has the feeling that he has forgotten someone important to him (Xion). At the end of this pivotal scene, Data-Roxas attacks Sora, wanting to show the Data version of his Somebody what "real hurt feels like". Data-Roxas loses the fight, at which time he taunts Sora, telling him to finish him off. Sora, however, explains that he had felt an "intense, sharp pain" from Data-Roxas, and stipulates that if carrying some hurt around inside him brings him closer to people, then that is a price that he is willing to pay. Data-Roxas, upon hearing Data-Sora’s speech, finally relaxes and ceases to be the antagonist, signifying that Sora has "passed the test". Data-Sora’s willing acceptance of Sora is deemed proof that the real Sora will be able to take on-board Roxas’s memories and the memory transfer, enacted in Dream Drop Distance can go ahead without issue. But this was not the end of things. More scenes follow, in which Data-Sora and Mickey meet with Data-Naminé. When reconstructing Sora’s memories between Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II, Naminé stumbled upon some memories hidden deep within Sora’s heart which she discovered did not belong to Sora. These special memories turn out to be the hidden keys to saving many people who had been thought lost, including Xion, Roxas, Terra, Aqua, Ventus, and even Naminé herself. As Mickey was present during this discussion, he was also made privy to the memories, so that he would be able to pass them on to the real Sora once outside the Datascape. When the time has come, Sora will need to call those memories to the surface, rescuing those lost souls. This sequence of scenes brings to light much more than it appears to. Combined with Ansem the Wise’s speech at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3D, we can most certainly assume that these events were hugely significant in the lead up to Kingdom Hearts III, and perhaps even other future titles. We can potentially look forward to seeing some of the characters which many readers may associate themselves with back in the series in the future! Five Common Formatting Mistakes by TheFifteenthMemberFor this issue's lesson, I want you to beware some common formatting mistakes that you might easily make during your editing adventures! Keep in mind the following five rules: An article's name is only written in bold the first time it is mentioned in an article. Subsequent mentions are written normally, without bold. If an article's subject has multiple names, each alias is written in bold once. Property names are always written in italics. This includes the names of franchises, games, or films, including all Kingdom Hearts games and any properties mentioned in Origin, Design, or Etymology sections. Sections are arranged in a specific order. An article's structure is very important. Different articles have different sections, so consult the Manual of Style (found in the sidebar, under Help) for the general patterns. An article must not have any double links. Although this rules does have its exceptions (such as on very long articles, where excessive scrolling is unwanted), pages should not be linked twice within the same article. One link per article is enough! Numbers between one to ten should be written in full. Larger numbers can be written in figures. A common literary practice, this is a good rule of thumb to keep in mind. Like the double link, this rule does have its exceptions, which you should be wary of. Now with this knowledge, you can avoid these simple errors!

Tips for leveling up Sora’s Master Form by TroisnyxetienneThis guide may seem a bit strange. Why Sora's Master Form, of all things? Let’s be honest, some of us have had brain farts and have not been sure how to level Master Form. And if we did figure it out, we would often be at a loss as to what places were available to perform the actual leveling! So I, TNE, thought I’d write up this quick guide to help those of us who, like me, have been stuck levelling up Master Form. I hope it can serve as a reminder for anyone who needs it. Basics Sora levels up Master Form by collecting Drive Orbs. You know, the swirling yellow orbs like the one to the right. You may remember Sora collecting his very first Drive Orb after being given his new clothes in Kingdom Hearts II! Also remember that only Heartless give out Drive Orbs, not Nobodies! Okay, I’m going overboard with the reminders. Next! Places to Level Quite naturally, the places for leveling Master Form are the places where enemies have Drive Orbs up the wazoo. Agrabah: Valley of Stone The Valley of Stone is an area filled with monoliths; on the floor and in the air, all with glowing edges. It’s pretty, it’s elegant, and it’s littered with treasure chests. Most importantly, it’s crawling with Heartless that release Drive Orbs! This place has loads of Emerald Blues, Crimson Jazzes and Fortunetellers, all of which drop Drive Orbs. Just be sure to heal regularly, because those Crimson Jazzes and Emerald Blues can be an absolute pain in the you-know-where. Pretty much all of Agrabah has enemies that drop Drive Orbs, but I find this the best place in all of Agrabah to level up Master Form, because the Drive Orb dropping enemies appear consistently, and there isn’t too long of a lapse of time between Heartless waves – you just need to stand at the right place to spawn them. Beast's Castle: LITERALLY ALMOST EVERYWHERE Just be sure you’re having a relatively lucky run where all you encounter are Heartless. The reason I say this is because, if this is your second visit to the Beast's Castle or later, you are likely to run into Dragoon Nobodies as a result of Xaldin’s interference. Various Heartless in this world release Drive Orbs upon defeat – Crimson Jazzes, Morning Stars, Gargoyle Knights and Statues, and even Lance Soldiers. These Heartless appear almost everywhere in the Beast’s Castle – in the main hall, in the East Wing, in the West Hall, in the West Wing... pretty much every conceivable area of Beast’s Castle has enemies dropping Drive Orbs. The best place to train in all of Beast’s Castle is the Undercroft – you know, the place leading to the Dungeon where the Beast's friends were all locked up. There are many Gargoyle Knights and Gargoyle Warriors there, and all of them drop (you guessed it) Drive Orbs. Just be careful not to take too much damage, because you’re going to be pretty much ambushed once you get in there. You'll be surrounded pretty easily. In addition to all this, at the entrance to the West Hall, there are various suits of armour that drop Drive Orbs when you smash them to pieces. The only place in all of the Beast’s Castle that does not have enemies that drop Drive Orbs consistently is the Bridge, where Mushroom #3 appears. But even that enemy drops Drive Orbs if you fulfil its objective! The Land of Dragons: LITERALLY ALMOST EVERYWHERE The Drive Orb bonus here may be seen as not great compared to the previous two examples, but if you’re the kind that believes that every little bit helps, then you’d best be sure not to overlook the Land of Dragons. You’re entering a warzone, so there will be ammunition and fireworks scattered everywhere. Destroying these will net you prizes. Some of these things, when destroyed, leave Drive Orbs! Be sure to never miss the ammo carts! In the way of Heartless, there are a good number of them that drop Drive Orbs. Emerald Blues, Assault Riders, Bolt Towers, and Nightwalkers all drop Drive Orbs. As is the case with the previous two examples, however, the ones that release the best Drive Orb bonuses are also enemies that you need to be careful of; in this case, they are the Assault Riders. As is the case with the Beast’s Castle, be sure that the waves of enemies you are fighting are Heartless. Nobodies occasionally appear at the summit of Tung-Shao (the mountain where Shan-Yu was first spotted) due to Xigbar’s interference. TheSilentHero's Review of Kingdom Hearts, the Novel WARNING: This review contains spoilers! If you are planning on reading the novel, you may want to skip this section. Although, if you have played the game, there isn't much to spoil... Finally, the Kingdom Hearts novels are being released in English! Naturally, I got the first one not long after its release. While Kingdom Hearts, the Novel is mostly the same as the game (which makes sense, since it is a novel based on the game), I felt there could have been extra content. For example, most of the dialogue is directly taken from the game. While this means that a lot of memorable quotes are present, it also makes conversations really predictable. At certain times, its like the author simply copied the game script. Not to mention the over-use of the phrase "to and fro". Also, the fighting scenes get pretty repetitive. It mostly follows the same pattern: Sora attacks with the Keyblade, Donald casts a barrage of spells, Goofy attacks with his shield and hands out potions. Most novels describe what people or places look like when they first appear, so the reader can create an image in his/her head of what the subject looks like. In this novel, the amount of descriptions is varying. One time, it describes a character completely, from hairstyle to clothing, and another time it only says the character is "an old man". In fact, the novel never mentions that Donald is a duck, except for his name, the fact that he is wagging his tail when they first introduce him, him saying "Quack" a lot, and the assumption that everyone knows, or should know, who Donald Duck is. Olympus Coliseum, Halloween Town, Atlantica, and 100 Acre Wood were all left out of the novel. That's 4 worlds! Not only is this disappointing, but it makes the scene where you first meet Maleficent's council very weird, as they (once again) copied the exact conversation from the game. With Hades, Oogie Boogie, and Ursula missing, it's just a dialogue between Jafar and Hook. Surprisingly, Deep Jungle does appear in the novel, most likely because it teaches Sora the meaning of friendship. (You know, *&&X%. Friends here.) Of course, the novel has good points, too. For example, they merged the reunion with Riku in Traverse Town with the Opposite Armor battle, which Riku helps Sora defeat. They also managed to add the encounter with the Unknown into the story! Troisnyxetienne's Top Five Pieces of Music from the Kingdom Hearts Series Hey everyone, Troisnyx here... again. Over the next few issues of the Twilight Times, I hope you will join me as I countdown my top five musical picks from the Kingdom Hearts games. Seriously, everyone is going to have had enough of me soon, what with the amount of content I seem to be churning out. In all seriousness though, being a musician myself (read: singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist), I find a lot of joy in the various music pieces of this series. What’s more, the music of the Kingdom Hearts games was what really drove me to write background music pieces of my own. In translating an interview with Yoko Shimomura, I learned of the anxiety the Kingdom Hearts composer experiences as she sits alone behind her computer screen, unsure what kind of reaction her songs will garner until she hears the love and positive feedback fans send her way. I found that Yoko's composition process was something I could relate to. Though my appreciation for the plethora of Kingdom Hearts music is clear, I’ll ultimately be narrowing my preferences down to a list of just five of my personal favourite tracks. For this top five list, several factors will be considered: Tonality How melodic or atonal a piece is. Does it sound harmonious or discordant? Context Whether it matches the specific event, environment or setting for which it is written. If it is a character theme, does it associate well with the character for which it is written? Expression Does it evoke emotions or is it monotonous? What kind of emotions does it raise? Memorability Just how much, as fans, do we remember the song? Do we associate it with a character, or place, or game in general? For this list, I am undertaking the arduous task of listening to EVERY piece of music from the Kingdom Hearts series during my free time – of which I have little these days. Of course, my results for this list will differ from the top five of others', which I accept and respect. It is also likely that with the release of future titles, my top five list is going to change, as Yoko Shimomura and her soundtracks are full of surprises. As a final note, I want you to bear in mind that this article is going to be spoiler-heavy, because the description of each respective song will include the context in which it plays. So, without further ado: Number Five The World of Dream Drops, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance There have been many world map themes, and nearly all of them have truly moved me. Most of them have given me surges of joy, so, in my mind, spotlighting a single world map theme was quite hard. It is especially hard when you have Precious Stars in the Sky from the first Kingdom Hearts, and A Twinkle in the Sky from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep to keep in mind; both pieces stick in your head and I am partial to both. I, however, eventually found a winner for the best world map theme: it is that of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Tonality There isn’t much of a melody, but rather a harmonious ambience with (what sounds like) bass guitar, piano chords, pizzicato strings and everything else in between. There is a hint of electronica thrown in for flair, as in parts of the piece, I can hear synthesisers. Strings and piano have always been a powerful combination, and it is still powerful here. This is actually the first ever world map theme from the Kingdom Hearts series to not have a well-defined melody until a good bit into the piece. And whatever melody there is, it follows the accompaniment, allowing other elements of the music to take centre stage and function as a whole. Everything about this piece works together; it is no longer a case of one instrument standing out from the rest anymore. This makes The World of Dream Drops quite pleasantly different. The musically trained ear might also recognise VI – VII – I chord progressions ending the sequence. Shimomura has been known to use VI – VII – I progressions a number of times in the games’ soundtrack (Hau'oli, Hau'oli, the field theme of Deep Space, comes to mind when I talk about this progression). VI – VII – I is a progression used by a lot of composers, and can be cliché unless there is some sort of quality that changes that progression. Here, the overall magical feel of the piece makes this ending progression pleasant to my ears, and not just simply tolerable. Context The setting is simple; it’s just a world map. The world map of Dream Drop Distance is considerably simpler than that of most other games, because there are no gummi ship mechanics and the map doesn’t involve you flying to one world from another. You simply pick a world and dive. I’m aware that this makes the setting relatively simple and, perhaps, lacklustre compared to a good many other world maps. And maybe the vast majority of people aren’t going to stay on the world map for hours on end listening to this theme... unless the vast majority of Kingdom Hearts fans are actually the kind of music buffs who would stay on the world map for hours listening to the world map theme and I am just unaware of it. I mean, I’ve done this in a lot of other Kingdom Hearts games. The World of Dream Drops, however, adds a specific magical quality to the map screen that otherwise wouldn’t be there. Taking everything into context, Sora and Riku are not going through their ordinary journey, travelling from world to world on a ship or by some other external means. They are diving into worlds by themselves; they themselves are undertaking a very magical act that perhaps no one else ever has. Expression As I mentioned before, every map theme gives me a sense of elation, a rush of joy as the piece progresses. The World of Dream Drops is no different. There is a sufficient variation in the music – there are high points and low points, points of lush orchestration and points of calm – that ensure I don’t feel fed up after listening to this piece for hours on end. This is a reaction I didn’t have with any other Kingdom Hearts map themes. Memorability If you’re a lazy person, who listens to something on the simple basis that it sounds good, there are chances that you may remember this composition... or you may have forgotten it. We remember melodies far better than accompaniments, which is simply natural. I could see this piece as being forgettable in many minds. If you are, however, a musician who plays by ear, what are the chances that you could perfectly play this piece, or arrange it by yourself within a matter of minutes? Extremely high. This chord sequence has been so stuck in my head, the piano parts have been so stuck in my head, that I believe that any attempt to arrange this piece live or impromptu, would go a great deal better than if I were to arrange, say, Precious Stars in the Sky or A Twinkle in the Sky under the same conditions. <youtube>CqAPx5a88vY</youtube> Next time: It's a secret... a secret ending.

TNE: Anyone who does video game commentary. There's also... the wiki's very own Let's Play. I guess... Byz: I was thinking of taking part in that. TNE: As long as you have a mic and Skype, I think you're good to take part. I took part in it once, for two videos, before March. I kinda miss it, actually. Byz: I have both a mic and Skype. TNE: Good, then. ^_^ Byz: Anyway, I have seen you have been making tons of userboxes. A thousand perhaps! TNE: Has it really been THAT MANY? o.O I know I've been working on a lot, but I didn't expect it to be that many... Byz: They are very impressive. TNE: Cheers. ^_^ Mind you though, I created them because I wanted to find quotes and pictures that matched etc. I wanted to experiment with colours and such. Now it's coming to the point that I start to get sick of seeing userboxes everywhere, which means I may need to take a break from them soonish. I quite enjoy doing them, but I admit getting sick of them. Byz: Fair enough. That was alot of hard work. TNE: It can get that way sometimes. TheSilentHero has been my coding partner for these userboxes, and KeybladeSpyMaster made the trophy ones. Byz: I noticed. TNE: So I'm glad that I'm not alone. Always had trouble with wikimarkup, I have. Byz: How so? TNE: In my earlier days on the wiki, we were bringing out newer infobox templates for mainspace articles (Game: and Walkthrough: space did not exist back then; I'm talking 2009, 2010), and I often got confused when improvements were added. I'd also brought about the idea of making emotions in talk templates and, back in the day, I had separate templates for separate emotions, but I didn't know how to bring them together. When it comes to code, I've nearly always had help. I'm grateful for it; it shows how it's best to work with friends by my side. Byz: Of course. TNE: At the end of the day, it is down to each person to show what good things he or she can bring with their gifts. I say this as someone who has been away from Kingdom Hearts Wiki for a term of years. Studies and other concerns and joys took me away. Yes, I came back because of the nostalgia trips of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, but each one of us who edits there has a higher calling in life. For instance, have you seen Neumannz's comics and sketches? Byz: I don't think so. TNE: He has a tumblr; his handle is how-do-i-nezzy. Byz: Thanks for the link TNE: His Tumblr has a lot of reblogs, but look for the original content. People are going to satisfy their creative drives outside of the wiki for many reasons. Some want to leave a mark on the world. Byz: So how many of the Kingdom Hearts games have you played? TNE: Certainly not all of them.... I've played everything except the GBA version of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, the original Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, the DS version of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (both of those games are films for me), and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. And Kingdom Hearts χ, if you want to count that. As a point of interest, I had access to Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix while they were on the PS2. I don't have access to them anymore, but we've got English versions now. So much the better. Byz: I think there is going to be a Dream Drop Distance HD Remix. TNE: You think so, now? Has it been in the pipeline, hinted anywhere? Byz: The 2.5 HD Remix credits. TNE: Ooo, so it is in the pipeline! I haven't gotten that far in the game yet, I can tell you. ^_^ Byz: But I feel like Tetsuya Nomura is acting too much like George R.R Martin, creator of the Game of Thrones series. TNE: Perhaps. I can understand him delaying Kingdom Hearts III now of all times, because of the major casting issue (both Xehanorts have died), but I don't really know how to explain all the previous delays. Dear Troisnyxetienne What is The Keyhole? —Anonymous I take it you're talking about the wiki version, and not the actual Keyholes featured in the Kingdom Hearts series, so I'll gladly explain how it came about. The Kingdom Hearts Wiki started off as one of many wikis hosted on a platform known as Wikia. Over the years, Wikia departed from its standard layouts and made many, MANY poor decisions, mainly disallowing the Monobook and Vector skins, and forcing a skin on everyone that jammed huge ads on pages that made the content area smaller, so they were padded out in an unprofessional manner. Quite frankly, we got sick of it. We didn't have the heart to delete our Wikia wiki, because Some of the old members were no longer online and it would have been unwise to delete the original domain Some people chose to remain on Wikia. So a split came about: the Kingdom Hearts Wiki got its own domain name and address and what was left at Wikia was renamed the Keyhole. Love from Troisnyxetienne and everyone at the KHWiki and Keyhole! Dear Troisnyxetienne What is the difference between the Keyhole and the Kingdom Hearts Wiki at KHWiki.com? —Anonymous I can name historical differences, but I doubt I can name new ones owing to my absence from the Keyhole. Kingdom Hearts Wiki needed a sense of semi-professionalism, as I mentioned above, with the skins, while the Keyhole was sort of remodelled into a fan site. And so its tagline for quite a while was "Ye Olde Kingdom Hearts Fansite". Right now, however, people tell me that the functions of the Kingdom Hearts Wiki and the Keyhole aren't too far removed from each other. That being said, the Keyhole has to cater to Wikia specifications. You have fixed template limits on pages, for example. (I guess the more technical among us can fully list out the differences.) On our own domain, the Kingdom Hearts Wiki is free to add as much or as little template space as we need, and we have made many new ways of displaying stats, character, or weapon information, that we wouldn't have been able to do before. We've been breaking many moulds ever since... at least with the way our pages are displayed. Look at our character pages, for instance. A lot of them have tabs for galleries, quotes, battles etc. that Wikia would not be able to support. Love from Troisnyxetienne and everyone at the KHWiki and Keyhole! New games may spring up, new merchandise, new manga, new soundtracks. There are always pieces of the Kingdom Hearts universe that need to be strung together, and there are parts available for everyone to play.
