Phil's Training in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.

Phil's Training is a minigame in the Kingdom Hearts games. It involves Sora attempting to break several barrels or pots within a certain amount of time, and Roxas to defeat certain heartless within an amount of time.

Kingdom Hearts

In the original Kingdom Hearts, Phil used his training to test Sora. He put him through two rounds of the training that involved Sora destroying barrels. At the end, Phil concluded that Sora was not too bad, but still couldn't compete in the games. He gave him the Thunder spell to master.

Kingdom Hearts II

In Kingdom Hearts II, after Sora returned from the Underworld he went to see Phil and they did some of this training before the storyline continued. This time, Sora had to destroy pots and collect the orbs that drop from them. Three goals are added to Phil's Training once Sora has first attempted the minigame:

  • Try Practice Mode
  • Try Maniac Mode
  • Make 1000 or more points within 01'30"00

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

On day 117, Roxas is sent on a mission with Xigbar to investigate a new world. After fighting a few heartless on Olympus Coliseum, Phil comes out of the Coliseum and finds Roxas, mistaking him for a new trainee Hercules mentioned. Xigbar is able to hide, and leaves Roxas to infiltrate the coliseum, now that he didn't have to hide. After leaving Roxas behind, he finishes their investigation and heads into the coliseum to investigate more, taking Phil's training challenge, which is to hit as many barrels into each other as fast as possible. The technique to this will be raising the chain, the higher it is, the more points you get by hitting the barrels. Try not to let the Chain end or you'll have to start over again. By getting less then 100 points, Phil will be disappointed and tell you to get at least 100 points. by getting 100 points or more, but less then 150, Phil will say it's about what he expected and tell you to try 150 points. If you get more then 150 points and less then 200, he'll appreciate you and tell you to try for 200. By getting over two hundred, Phil will be amazed with your skills, doubting you being a rookie. The High Score will be marked on the Score marker inside the Colosseum, and will be saved for the future times you return to the world. After the training, Roxas double checks his doubts and returns home.
