Play Arts Kai are a set of officially-licensed action figures for Kingdom Hearts, and are part of Square-Enix's much larger Play Arts Figures set. So far, five official sets based on Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance have been released. Series One through Four were originally release under the "Play Arts Figures" name.
Main Series
Series One Figures
Each figure is fully articulated and comes with one or two props related to the game, usually weapons. The figures were released as follows:
- 1. Sora, in his Kingdom Hearts II Standard Form. Comes with the Kingdom Key.
- 2. Roxas, in his Simulated Twilight Town outfit. Comes with the Kingdom Key and sea-salt ice cream.
- 3. Kairi, in her school outfit from the Destiny Islands. Comes with her school bag.
- 4. Axel, in his standard Organization XIII outfit. Comes with two Eternal Flames Chakrams.
Five special edition figures of Sora were released, one for each of his Drive Forms.
- Valor Form Sora, with the Fenrir and Fatal Crest Keyblades.
- Wisdom Form Sora, with the Follow the Wind Keyblade.
- Master Form Sora, with the Guardian Soul and Circle of Life Keyblades.
- Final Form Sora, with the Sleeping Lion and Hero's Crest Keyblades.
- Limit Form Sora, with the Kingdom Key.
Series Two Figures
This series features characters in their original Kingdom Hearts designs; the released figures are as follows:
- 1. Sora in his Halloween Town outfit, with the Pumpkinhead Keyblade.
- 2. Cloud Strife in his first outfit from Olympus Coliseum with the bandaged Buster Sword.
- 3. Sephiroth in outfit from Olympus Coliseum, with his Masamune.
Series Three Figures
This set features two characters in the first Kingdom Hearts style and one from Kingdom Hearts II style. They are as follows:
- 1. Sora in his standard outfit from the first game, with Kingdom Key.
- 2. Riku in his standard outfit from the first game, with Soul Eater.
- 3. King Mickey in his organization cloak, with Kingdom Key D.
Series Four Figures
This set has been revealed at Tokyo Expo in France, and has recently been released in America. The characters in this set include:
- 1. Sora in his Christmas Town outfit from Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, with the Decisive Pumpkin Keyblade.
- 2. King Mickey in his standard outfit from Kingdom Hearts II, with Kingdom Key D.
- 3. Jack Skellington and Zero from Kingdom Hearts II
Series Five Figures
Starting with Series Five, the figure was moved under the Play Arts Kai line. This set was revealed during Jump Festa 2013 in Japan. The Tron: Legacy Version were released in June 2013 and the Dream Drop Distance version were released in January 2014. The characters in this set include:
- 1. Sora in his Dream Drop Distance outfit from Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, with the Kingdom Key, Sweet Dreams, and the Dream Drop Distance version of the Ultima Weapon Keyblades.
- 2. Riku in his Dream Drop Distance outfit from Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, with the Way to the Dawn and Divewing Keyblades.
- 3. Sora in his Tron: Legacy Version outfit from Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, with a palette swap of the Ultima Weapon from The Grid.
- 4. Riku in his Tron: Legacy Version outfit from Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, with a palette swap of the End of Pain from The Grid.
