The Ryu Dragon's design is based on a European dragon.

The Ryu Dragon Recipe is found in a chest at the Golden Wood (Riku's side). The Ryu Dragon can be created through five different recipes.

The first recipe is a rank E recipe.
- 3 Lofty Fancy + 2 Brilliant Fantasy
The second recipe is a rank E recipe that has a 20% chance of transforming from Pegaslick.
- 4 Lofty Fantasy + 1 Brilliant Fantasy
The third recipe is a rank D recipe.
- 3 Lofty Fantasy + 2 Brilliant Fantasy
The fourth recipe is a rank C recipe.
- 2 Prickly Fantasy + 3 Brilliant Fantasy
The fifth recipe is a rank B recipe that has an 80% chance of success.
- 3 Epic Fantasy + 2 Brilliant Fantasy
