Captain Hook is a boss in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. He is always fought in Neverland.
Captain Hook is a boss in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. He is fought in Neverland.

Strategy
Strategy
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Kingdom Hearts
Captain Hook appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep as a boss for Ventus. He retains the same moveset as in Kingdom Hearts, but the fight is easier as Hook cannot summon any helpers. Hook's attacks can be quite damaging, so it is best to use the Guard or Dodge Roll ability. Hook can guard attacks, so it is best to attack from behind. Hook also has an attack where he charges at Ventus while slashing wildly, this can be avoided by gliding around the island. Another attack consists of throwing bombs shaped like presents. The battle takes place near water and the Crocodile is swimming around, so the player has to be careful not to land in the water near the animal, as the Crocodile can damage Ventus. The player can also throw Captain Hook in the water, where the crocodile damages him. If he is hit with any fire-based attacks, or the Firestorm Command Style, he will catch on fire, leaving him open for a few hits. Reversal and Reversal Slash are quite useful in this fight as Hook can occasionally block attacks. Another good weakness to exploit is the boss is weak against Gravity spells. The Wingblade Command Style is quite useful in this fight.
If Sora is flying when the battle starts, descend to the ground and land on the deck. Lock onto Captain Hook and make sure not to lose him. Ignore the Battleship Heartless, because if one is destroyed another will replace it immediately.

Focus on Captain Hook, and make sure to have Aero cast on Sora while doing so. If Sora's HP falls too low, fly away and heal before continuing. Try evading or guarding Hook's rapier—for it can deal substantial damage. If Sora casts a Fire spell on Captain Hook, his pants will catch fire and he will run around the deck. If he runs into Sora while on fire, it can deal damage, so fly into the air to avoid this.

Also, if Sora uses a combo on him and knocks him into the air, he has a chance of falling into the water—after which, he will jump up back up and run away. He lets his guard down at this point, so attack him immediately. Be sure not to use Thunder as he can guard against it. Be sure to keep up Aero and heal when necessary. If Sora gets too far for Hook to reach, he will throw present-bombs. Sometimes, Hook will turn red and follow Sora around for a short time. If he gets close, he'll unleash a quick and aggressive flurry of attacks. Eventually, he'll tire and breathe heavily, giving Sora a chance to strike. Before he starts to go into this "berserk" mode, a whistle sound will be heard.

Kingdom Hearts
If you're having difficulties, a good trick to recognize is that Sora can leave the boss battle at anytime by walking into one of the two doors on the ship. Upon returning, Hook will not restore his HP. This can give Sora the chance to heal and restock any used items before going back to the battle, as well as not needing to redo the previous fight after a Game Over. The rewards for winning are Ansem's Report 9 and the Ars Arcanum ability.
If you are flying when the battle starts, descend to the ground and land on the deck. Lock onto Captain Hook and make sure not to lose him. If you're flying in the air, Hook won't stay in one place, so it would be wise to keep your feet planted on the ground. Ignore the Battleship Heartless, because even if you destroy one, another one will take its place. What would be a good strategy is when your HP is at critical and Hook and the Heartless are closing in on you. Fly from the boat and hope you can heal in time until the Battleships arrive. By this point you should have just obtained Cura.

Fight Captain Hook head-on, and make sure that you have Aero cast while doing so. If your HP meter gets too low, fly away and heal yourself before continuing. If you can, try evading Hook's rapier, or guarding against it - for it can deal substantial damage.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
Captain Hook uses almost the same moves as he does in Kingdom Hearts. He normally attacks from a short distance, with several slashes, and if not broken with a 0 or a Sleight, these attacks can badly damage Sora/Riku. The ship which serves as arena frequently tilts from one side to another, making approaching Hook more or less difficult depending on the situation, and Hook's attacks potentially push the player character farther away than normal.

If you cast Fira on Captain Hook, his pants will catch fire and he will run around the deck. If he runs into you while on fire, it can damage you, so fly into the air to protect yourself. Also, if you use a combo on him and knock him into the air, he has a chance of falling into the water - after which, he will jump up and run helter-skelter (for fear of the crocodile). When this happens, you have a very good opportunity of attacking him because he has let his guard down. With a good balance of Cura and Aero, you should be successful. If you get too far for Hook to reach you, he will throw present-bombs, similar to the one he gave to Peter Pan.
While playing as Sora, be sure to have enough Card Points, 0 cards and Cure cards stocked in the deck. If using Friend cards, only use the Goofy card when Hook is in close range. Like all other boss battles, heal when necessary. He is immune to lightning spells, so do not use them against him. However, he is vulnerable to fire. It is possible to use the Fire Raid sleight from a certain distance to land several hits on him, dealing heavy damage in the process, but one should mind the tilted arena when getting the right position.

A good trick to recognize is that Sora can leave the boss battle with Hook anytime by walking into any of the two doors on the ship, and returning to the battle will have Hook at the same health as when you left. This can give you a chance to heal and restock any used items before going back into the fray.
When Hook's All Zeroes enemy card is active, avoid using sleights as they can easily get card broken. One can continuously break his cards one by one, but if Sora doesn't have the Attack Bracer card active, breaking Hook's card may cause him to retaliate with another card break by a 0 card. If one uses a strategy that relies on using magic or summon sleights such as Firaga or Omnislash, one can wait until Hook decides to reload his deck for his enemy card to wear off.

After winning the fight, you will gain Ansem's Report 9 and the Ars Arcanum ability.
When playing as Riku in Reverse/Rebirth, one can take advantage of the All Zeroes enemy card's effect to keep breaking cards and enter Dark Mode quickly, but once in such mode, wait until the enemy's card wears off before attacking with sleights. Keep the Mickey card for emergency.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
Captain Hook uses almost the same moves as he does in the Kingdom Hearts, only this time, without summoning any Heartless - and this time, both Sora and Riku cannot fly. Also, when his HP bar is depleted by half, he has a tendency to go to the poop-deck (or towards the hold) of the ship and kick barrels of gunpowder towards the player. These barrels are best evaded. He normally attacks from a short distance, with several slashes, and if not broken with a 0 or a Sleight, these attacks can badly damage Sora or Riku.
Captain Hook uses almost the same moves as he does in the previous games, but now has access to a new sleight Barrel Blast. It is recommended to cardbreak it as the sleight lasts for quite a while. The arena now does not tilt as much as in the original game, and only serves a purpose for Barrel Blast.

While playing as Sora, be sure to have enough Card Points, enough 0 cards and enough Cure cards stocked in the deck. If you insist on using Friend cards during battle, use the Goofy card only when Hook is within close range. Like all other boss battles, heal when necessary.
He is still very weak to fire, making the sheer repetitive use of Firaga very useful to end the fight quickly.

You may observe the same strategy while you are playing as Riku in Reverse/Rebirth (note however that it might be a bit easier as you play it during the first few levels of the game). Keep the Mickey card for emergency, or if you intend to use Holy Burst/Reverse Burst, do so only when Hook is within close range.
When Hook's All Zeroes enemy card is active, Attack Bracer will now allow Sora to use attack sleights without risk.

Deck Statistics
The same strategy can be used while playing as Riku in Reverse/Rebirth. One may use Attack Bracer to safely use Dark Mode sleights during All Zeroes. If intending to use Holy Burst/Inverse Burst, do so only when Hook is within close range.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Captain Hook appears as a boss for Ventus. He retains the same moveset as in Kingdom Hearts, but the fight is easier as Hook cannot summon any allies. Additionally Hook isn't immune to thunder and he staggers from fire in this game without being weak to it. Hook's attacks can be quite damaging, so it is best to use the Guard or Dodge Roll ability. Hook can guard attacks, so attack him from behind. Hook also has an attack where he charges at Ventus while slashing wildly; this can be avoided by gliding around the island. Another attack consists of throwing present-shaped bombs.

The battle takes place near water with the Crocodile swimming around, so Ven must careful not to land in the water near the Crocodile, as it can damage him. Ventus can also throw Captain Hook in the water by knocking him near the edge and landing an attack, allowing the Crocodile to deal damage to him. While he runs back towards the island, he is briefly vulnerable to attack. He will then do an attack where he slashes repeatedly while charging at Ventus; it's unsafe to attack physically while Hook does this, but one can use a Shotlock to deal heavy damage, or interrupt the attack by blocking or dealing Fire damage. If he is hit with any fire-based attacks or the Firestorm Command Style, he will catch on fire, leaving him open for a few hits. Reversal and Reversal Slash are quite useful in this fight as Hook can occasionally block attacks. Another exploitable weakness is that Hook is weak against Zero Gravity spells. As Hook can also be stunned, Stun Block is helpful to equip. The Wingblade Command Style is quite useful in this fight.

Captain Hook is a boss in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. He is fought in Neverland.

Strategy[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories[edit]

Captain Hook uses almost the same moves as he does in Kingdom Hearts. He normally attacks from a short distance, with several slashes, and if not broken with a 0 or a Sleight, these attacks can badly damage Sora/Riku. The ship which serves as arena frequently tilts from one side to another, making approaching Hook more or less difficult depending on the situation, and Hook's attacks potentially push the player character farther away than normal.

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories[edit]

Captain Hook uses almost the same moves as he does in the previous games, but now has access to a new sleight Barrel Blast. It is recommended to cardbreak it as the sleight lasts for quite a while. The arena now does not tilt as much as in the original game, and only serves a purpose for Barrel Blast.

He is still very weak to fire, making the sheer repetitive use of Firaga very useful to end the fight quickly.

When Hook's All Zeroes enemy card is active, Attack Bracer will now allow Sora to use attack sleights without risk.

The same strategy can be used while playing as Riku in Reverse/Rebirth. One may use Attack Bracer to safely use Dark Mode sleights during All Zeroes. If intending to use Holy Burst/Inverse Burst, do so only when Hook is within close range.

They explode when 25 seconds have passed, they hit Sora, Riku, or Hook, or when they are caught in the explosion of another barrel. Once Hook drops the barrels, he'll wait on the higher platform, before coming down and chasing Sora or Riku, and attacking them with his sword when getting close, jumping back on the platform afterwards, and repeating the process.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]
