The design for the glider is done after Sidecar motorcycles where the driver rides in a seat on the main portion of the vehicle, and a secondary passenger rides in a separate seat. This same design is used for the glider. Riku drives while Sora stands on the side appendage, both of them use their Keyblades to fight off incoming enemies. Two Nobody emblems adorn the glider, one directly in front of the driver's seat and another one on the floor of the sidecar.
The Glider's design is similar to that of sidecar motorcycles, where a small cab is attached to the relatively larger main vehicle in order to provide for a second passenger. It shares many similarities with Terra's and Ventus's Keyblade Gliders. Like Terra's glider, the main vehicle is sharply angled at its front tip, and the seats in both are slung forward so that the driver is nearly horizontal. The sidecar's design is similar to Ventus's Glider, in that the rider must stand as though riding a skateboard, allowing them to strike passing enemies.

It shares many similarities with Terra's and Ventus's Keyblade Gliders. Both Riku and Terra ride the Gliders in the same pose, and both Gliders are pointed in the front. And both of the Gliders's seats are very similar. As for similarities with Ventus's glider, Sora rides the sidecar in the same fashion as Ventus when he rides his Keyblade Glider.

Laser
This weapon allows the Glider to shoot multiple lasers from a sharp pointed pod at the bottom of the Glider. This command is used by pressing s.

Megalaser
The Megalaser is a Reaction Command that can only be activated after filling the Megalaser bar by using Drain to convert the offensive small lasers from enemies into energy.

Drain
When Riku uses this command a barrier is created, similar to Aqua's Reflect barrier, this feature allows you to absorb some of the energy from oncoming lasers to charge up the energy meter so that you can use the Megalaser Reaction Command. It also reflects some of the energy at Xemnas's ship. It is used by pressing c.

Attack
Commands Sora to strike with his Keyblade. Sora will do a 360-degree horizontal slash. This attack will only hit bomb-like Nobodies that often appears in front of Sora and Riku. If the Nobodies are hit, they'll be thrown into the ship's part, dealing a good amount of damage. Riku uses it automatically when the Bomb Bell Nobodies appear. It is used by pressing x.

The glider used by Riku and Sora.

The Sidecar Glider is an aerial vehicle that appears in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. Riku commandeers it in The World That Never Was for the second battle with Xemnas and his Dragon Form on the Altar of Naught. It is only seen during this fight.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

After the Corridor of Darkness leading to Destiny Islands closes, Xemnas and the dragon appear to attack Sora and Riku. After the latter destroys the upper tower of the Castle That Never Was, Riku notices the Glider and runs towards it, asking Sora to get on its side platform. The two follow them, fighting the dragon until they face Xemnas in the ship's cockpit, and the Glider is sucked into a void.

Design[edit]

The Glider's design is similar to that of sidecar motorcycles, where a small cab is attached to the relatively larger main vehicle in order to provide for a second passenger. It shares many similarities with Terra's and Ventus's Keyblade Gliders. Like Terra's glider, the main vehicle is sharply angled at its front tip, and the seats in both are slung forward so that the driver is nearly horizontal. The sidecar's design is similar to Ventus's Glider, in that the rider must stand as though riding a skateboard, allowing them to strike passing enemies.

Controls[edit]

 • D-Pad/Left Stick: Move the ship.
 • X: Attack (たたかう Tatakau?): Sora performs his multi-target ground combo finisher, Rotating H-Slash, which can only hit the Bomb Bells that often appear in front of Sora and Riku. If the Nobodies are hit, they will be thrown into the dragon, dealing a large amount of damage. Riku uses it automatically when the Bomb Bell Nobodies appear.
 • Square: Laser (レーザー Rēzā?): The Glider shoots multiple lasers from an angular pod at the bottom of the Glider.
 • Circle: Drain (ドレイン Dorein?): Riku summons a barrier that absorbs the energy from oncoming lasers and fills an energy meter that, when full, allows the player to use the Megalaser Reaction Command.
 • Triangle: Megalaser (オーバーレイ Ōbārei?, lit. "Overray"): When the energy meter is full, Sora and Riku fire a long-lasting laser that can be aimed with Left Stick.
