A loving grandmother. Kairi could listen to her story about the light a hundred times and never get bored.
"With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It's the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps, deep within the darkness. That's why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other."
—Kairi's Grandma retelling Kairi the story of light and darkness.

Kairi's Grandma is a resident of Radiant Garden, and the only one of Kairi's relatives that appears in the series. Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

Kairi walks with her grandmother while Aqua looks on.

Kairi's Grandma finds Kairi after Aqua and Mickey save her granddaughter from a swarm of Unversed. As they walk away, Kairi asks her grandmother to tell her favorite story about the light and the darkness, as Aqua listens in the background.

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

While in Traverse Town, Sora suddenly experiences one of Kairi's memories—a memory of Kairi's grandmother telling the story of light and darkness while reading in Hollow Bastion's library. After Kairi is rescued and taken to Traverse Town's Underwater Cavern, she tells Sora that there is a deeper meaning to this story, and that it was "more than just a fairy tale".

Other appearances[edit]

Kingdom Hearts χ[edit]
