In Kingdom Hearts the Platinum Match is a reward-less match - the only thing you do get out of it is a great deal of experience from defeating Sephiroth. However, in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, defeating Sephiroth will give you the One Winged Angel Keyblade. Because Sephiroth is one of the most difficult enemies in Kingdom Hearts, it is highly recommended that Sora be at a high level to defeat him.
How To Unlock
It is unlocked at Olympus Coliseum if one clears the Hercules Cup.
