The Bond of Flame is a Keychain for Sora's Keyblade that was introduced in Kingdom Hearts II. In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, it can be upgraded to the Bond of Flame+.

Design[edit]

The Keychain, teeth, and blade resembles Axel's Eternal Flames chakrams. When it is swung, tiny chakrams and flames appear. The two chakrams that make up the Keyblade are joined by a metal numeral 8 and they also have eight total spikes, a reference to Axel's position within the Organization.

The Keyblade's name references the friendship between Roxas and Axel, and later the debt Axel owed to Sora.

Gameplay[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

In Kingdom Hearts II, Bond of Flame is a Keyblade with balanced stats in strength and magic. Its ability, Fire Boost, increases the damage delivered with Fire-based attacks. It is best used in conjunction with Wisdom Form, Master Form, or Final Form, where the enhanced mobility with magic allows Sora to zip around the battlefield.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Sora can wield the Bond of Flame with the Pandora's Gear equipped. Unlike the Kingdom Key and its variants, the Bond of Flame has a unique moveset. The ground combo contains only two moves: a basic, downward slash, followed by a unique move in which Sora turns and swings the Keyblade with all his might in front of him. After the former move, a Y-Combo can be used, in which Sora jumps in the air and vertically spins, striking upward with his Keyblade at the end. This spin can be extended with additional button presses for up to three additional hits before the final strike.

The aerial combo begins with an upward sweep with the Keyblade, followed by a downward slash. It is finished with a spinning move, in which Sora vertically spins, striking upward with the Keyblade at the end. This spin can be extended with additional button presses for up to three additional hits before the final strike.
