The Vitality Vial is an Unversed found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. The player can transform into this Unversed using the exclusive Illusion-V command.
Design[edit]
A Vitality Vial's shape resembles that of an hourglass-shaped vial. It has a turquoise body, which fades to yellow towards its base. Its spherical head has two fin-like protrusions poking out from either side of it. Above its red eyes, which are set in a happy expression, is a triangular, pale gold-colored highlight. Above its head is a noticeably thinner "neck", with a pale gold rim. Its "lid" is turquoise with a pale gold highlight and is topped by a large, light blue gem.
The Vitality Vial's Japanese name alludes to its appearance, and the goal of the Battle Mission it appears in: to survive for as long as possible. Its English name alludes to the HP clouds that it releases whenever it is attacked.
Strategy[edit]
The Vitality Vial can be found exclusively in the Dwarf Woodlands. The protagonist's deck should be full with maximum-level Curaga commands, with all Magic Haste abilities and Reload Boost equipped to minimize the commands' reload time. Heal Strike should also be the equipped finisher, allowing them to heal.
The Vitality Vial will use Draining Mist at the start of the battle, filling the arena with a poisonous mist that will slowly diminish the protagonist's HP. As a survival challenge, the mini-game ends when the protagonist's HP is depleted, but not in a Game Over.
As the report says, hitting the Vitality Vial will release clouds of HP that will heal the protagonist.
- Terra and Aqua
Terra and Aqua can confront this Unversed in the Underground Waterway.
When playing as Terra, a notable strategy is to use Air Slide or Ice Slide and Sonic Impact to catch up to the Vitality Vial, damage it, and heal him. However, Sonic Impact counts as a combo finisher, so the Vitality Vial may warp after Sonic Impact connects. Similarly, when playing as Aqua, equip Ice Slide and Firewheel to damage the Vitality Vial.
A foolproof strategy is to attack the cog in the area to open the gate and hide from the Vitality Vial. The Vitality Vial will never enter the gate, leaving Terra or Aqua free to survive as long as they can by periodically casting Curaga when their HP is low.
- Ventus
Ventus can find the Vitality Vial in the Mine, the same place where he first attacked the dwarfs.
Unlike Terra and Aqua, Ventus has nowhere to hide from the Vitality Vial. To survive, attack the Vitality Vial with combos, Fire Glide, or Thunder Roll, or get away as far as possible from the Vial before healing.
