Template:Enemy The Lone Runner is an Unversed found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. The player can transform into this Unversed using the exclusive Illusion-L command.
Design
A Lone Runner's body is shaped like a large, yellow boot, which has a white strap and heel, a dark grey sole, and light grey highlights. Its spherical, dark grey head peeks out of the top of the boot. It has two curved horns on the top of its head, both of which point forward, and its red eyes are set in a sorrowful expression. The Unversed logo is emblazoned on the front of the boot's leg.
The Lone Runner's name references its behavior; it runs from enemies rather than attacking.
Strategy
The Lone Runner can be found exclusively in the Ballroom in the Castle of Dreams, once Terra, Ventus or Aqua have completed their exploration of that world. There are many Lone Runners that will appear at will, and many of these will run as far away as possible from the player character.
Start by using a Shotlock with an especially high lock-on count -- Meteor Shower is very, very good for this purpose. Fully leveled up, a player character can get three consecutive uses of the Meteor Shower command before depleting his/her Focus gauge. Once the Focus gauge is depleted, go for a variety of attacks to boost the gauge up:
- Firaga and Triple Firaga are homing spells, and will be very useful to take out Lone Runners from a distance.
- Sonic Blade is useful, but a bit of a wildcard. It can be triggered seven times by successfully pressing , and it can potentially take out Lone Runners in the player's way -- but the player runs the risk of not coming into contact with any Lone Runners, if they get too far away during the course of this attack.
- Thundaga has a wide radius, and if the player is at a sufficiently high level, this spell can take out many Lone Runners at once. However, again, it is a bit of a wildcard, especially when Lone Runners manage to get out of the spell radius immediately before it is used.
- When playing as Terra, Meteor is as close to a screen nuke as anyone can get.
When the player's Focus gauge has refilled, use Meteor Shower again.
Taking out 60 or more Lone Runners is enough for any player character to gain the Illusion-L command and/or a three-star rank.
