"Anger and jealousy turned the king of Pride Rock into a Heartless."
—Pete

Scar is the final boss in the first visit to the Pride Lands from Kingdom Hearts II. When Simba's father Mufasa died and Simba disappeared, Scar took over the Pride Lands by turning it into a wasteland. After Sora helped Simba get his confidence back, Simba joined the party and they travel to the peak of Pride Rock. At the end of the battle, Sora and Simba beat Scar, but unbeknownst to Sora, Scar's darkness returned again as the Ghost of Scar.

Strategy

"Defeat Scar! Watch his movements and attack when the time is right!"
—Battle hint

Scar is very fast and has dangerous attacks, so it is wise to use the new Dash ability in combat in order to dodge his quick attacks. It is a good idea to begin the battle with a barrage of attacks against Scar. In the Pride Lands, Sora cannot use Drive Forms, so the choice in companion is not as critical. Simba's Limit is very useful and can deal major damage, but activate it only when Scar is close.

Scar is also capable of using Magic, depending on which element he surrounds himself with. If he is surrounded with fire, he will use long jumps while sending out fireballs, and if he is surrounded with thunder, he'll use short jumps while summoning lightning bolts. When Scar does this, it is best to just give him some room to cool off and then return to the fight. Watch out when Scar is covered in darkness, as that indicates that he is about to dash around the field followed by dark energy spheres similar to Riku's Dark Aura. To avoid this, zigzag around the area using Dash until the attack stops, and then begin attacking him. If Scar pounces on Sora, use the "Counter" Reaction Command to push the him off and escape.
