Kingdom Hearts is Shiro Amano's manga adaptation of the Kingdom Hearts series. Most of the Japanese volumes have been dubbed in English by TOKYOPOP and in German by Egmont Manga & Anime, but due to TOKYOPOP's loss of the license and later closure, the series has been indefinitely postponed in English markets.[1]
Story
Kingdom Hearts (manga)
The first manga series is based on Kingdom Hearts. It was released in four volumes and was translated into English by TOKYOPOP. Unlike the other mangas, first manga is read left to right. This is because it was serialised in a gaming magazine (Famitsū PS2) while the other series were serialised in a comic magazine (Gekkan Shōnen Gangan). Unlike comic magazines, gaming magazines are typically read from left to right. The series was re-released in three volumes in Japan in January-April 2007 as "Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix".

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (manga)
The second series is based on Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. It was released in two volumes, and dubbed in English by TOKYOPOP and in German by Egmont Manga & Anime. The Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Manga has a much lighter tone than that of the game.

Kingdom Hearts II (manga)
The third series is based on Kingdom Hearts II. It was released in five volumes, then discontinued. The first two volumes were dubbed in English by TOKYOPOP, while all five volumes were dubbed in German by Egmont Manga & Anime. A sixth volume was announced in Germany, but was not published. Kingdom Hearts II seems to take a more serious tone than Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, but still has some humorous scenes.
