Mystery Gear ③ (Axel) |
Conformers (風魔手裏剣 Fūma Shuriken ) are weapons that can be used by Axel in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Since Mystery Gear is said to bring forth the wielder's personality, it seems to show that Axel simply conforms to orders of those in charge; he brought Xion back to the Organization after she ran off twice with force, even if he didn't want to.
Design
A Conformer chakram much more closely resembles a shuriken (fitting, given its Japanese name) than Axel's other weapons. This weapon was most likely chosen due to the similarities between ninjas and assassins being the same. It lacks a center wheel, and instead has four spikes that connect to each other. Each of these spikes are large and triangular, and they each have an angular curve. The sides of the chakram alternate from black to red. The handle is a black cross, and the tips of the handle flare outward slightly.
Etymology
- In Final Fantasy VII, the Conformer is Yuffie's ultimate weapon.
- In the Final Fantasy video game series, the Fuma Shuriken is a recurring throwing weapon that can only be used by Ninjas. It is usually the strongest throwing weapon in the game it appears in. The Fuma Shuriken appears in Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
- In Japanese fiction, the Fūma Shuriken is a recurring enormous shuriken weapon that typically has four blades.
