The Grid |
Rinzler is a boss in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, fought by Sora in The Grid. Sora is forced by CLU (and encouraged by Quorra) to fight Rinzler in order to restore Tron to normal.
Strategy
Before confronting Rinzler, it is vital that Sora's Command Deck be equipped with Counter Rush, as well as several ranged attacks and healing commands.
Like the Black Guards, Rinzler is incredibly agile and adept at inflicting powerful combos to interrupt Sora's attacks and wipe out his health. While his attacks can generally be dodged with Air Slide or Dodge Roll, they provide an excellent opportunity to be blocked and countered with Counter Rush.
Sora should focus on maintaining a significant distance from Rinzler and performing ranged attacks or Link Attacks to wear down his health, primarily when Rinzler has just retrieved the disks so that he can't attempt to interrupt the attack. Rinzler will frequently try to close the distance with Sora and melee attack him, in which case Sora should focus on blocking and performing Counter Rush before fleeing. If Sora gets hit, he should immediately flee and attempt to heal. If he deals a lot of consecutive damage, the Code Break Reality Shift can be activated to use the "DISC JAMMER" effect and cause Rinzler to not to be able to attack with his discs and try to avoid Sora.
Infrequently, Rinzler will run to the walls while an alarm sounds, then flip the gravity in the arena. On the ceiling, vertical movement controls are reversed, but Rinzler has less room to evade any of Sora's ranged attacks. Rinzler will also try much harder to get close to Sora, so Counter Rush is still very effective.
When the gravity flips back, Rinzler will perform a Falling Crash at Sora, which incorporates a small cinematic focusing on Rinzler. As soon as Sora regains control, he should attempt to dodge to the side, out of Rinzler's range.
