When Goofy visits Timeless River with Sora and Donald, they are all converted into the older versions of earlier cartoons. In Goofy's case, he is largely based on the prototypical Goofy, then-Dippy Dawg, from the 1932 cartoon Mickey's Revue. Here, the future Goofy was portrayed as an annoying elderly member of the audience and a running gag of the short. Retro Goofy is primarily a younger version of the said character.

He can fight with his shield like his usual appearance.
