Template:Enemy Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed are bosses in Kingdom Hearts II that are fought in the Pride Lands. Known for their role in The Lion King as Scar's peons, they are fought once in the King's Den and then later in the Elephant Graveyard. The second time their HP has gone up a little thus making it a longer battle, but easier at the same time, since the hyenas do not attack but flee.

Strategy

First encounter

Your task is to protect Timon and Pumbaa from the hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. Attack is the best form of defense in this situation. Sora is in less danger than Pumbaa here, so monitor the Damage gauge in the top left-hand corner of the screen very closely.

Don't make the mistake of attacking any one hyena for too long, as Pumbaa could sustain serious damage if you let him out of your sight. Stick close to him and deal with any enemies that approach. If you find yourself surrounded, use the Fire spell to dispatch multiple assailants.

If you move away from Pumbaa, the hyenas will immediately launch an attack on him. You can call him to you using the Call Over Reaction Command. The hyenas will then run around in confusion, possibly injuring each other. Keep attacking until the three hyenas are defeated. Another battle lies ahead of you on top of the peak, where Simba will rejoin the party prior to confronting Scar.

Second encounter

Your fight with the hyenas takes place in the Elephant Graveyard. The difficulty here is actually finding and catching the swift beasts in order to hit them! The moment you approach, two exclamation marks will appear above them and they will take off at warp speed. It's convenient that you have just acquired the "Running Tackle", and can outrun them with Dash. Simply hold down the Square button, and attack as you run.

However, you can actually avoid the whole tiresome business of tearing around like a crazy lion. An alternative strategy is to slowly creep up on an unsuspecting hyena while pressing R1.

As soon as you target your enemy, deploy the Magnera spell to stop him or her, then use Simba's limit to wipe the smile off your opponent's mangy face in no time. Combining Magnera with Thunder magic is another useful combo to use in this fight. Each defeated hyena is indicated by a crossed-out icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Note that you don't lose HP in this battle. After the battle, head over to the Oasis to get Simba back, then get ready to face something rather spectacular in the Savannah.
