Dark Firaga is a technique that was introduced in Kingdom Hearts. It allows the user to fire a ball of dark flames at a target.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Dark Firaga
Riku using Dark Firaga against Sora

After losing the Keyblade and his friends to Riku, Sora follows Riku into the Entrance Hall, where Riku uses Dark Firaga against a defenseless Sora. However, just before it hits Sora, Goofy blocks the attack with his shield.

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories[edit]

On the twelfth floor of Castle Oblivion, the Riku Replica attacks Sora with Dark Firaga at nearly pointblank as the Keyblade wielder attempts to aid him.

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

In The World That Never Was, when Saïx tries to capture Kairi and Naminé, Riku uses Dark Firaga to drive him back.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

After Xehanort returned to Land of Departure and Eraqus learned of his scheme to recreate the χ-blade, he attempts to stop his former friend. However, Xehanort quickly defeats him with a Dark Firaga spell, permanently scarring Eraqus's face.

When Ventus follows Vanitas to the Badlands, Vanitas challenges him to a duel. After easily defeating Ventus, Vanitas attempts to destroy him with Dark Firaga, but Mickey Mouse miraculously appears due to the Star Shard and deflects the spell.

Later, Braig lures Terra to the Purification Facility and forces Terra to duel in order to rescue his hostage, Master Xehanort. Terra gives in to his darkness and easily defeats Braig, launching several shots of Dark Firaga that both permanently scar Braig and destroy Xehanort's chains.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]

Once Roxas recovers and obtains the Oblivion Keyblade, Riku attempts to use Dark Firaga, but the Nobody easily deflects it.

Mechanics[edit]

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Dark Firaga is an attack sleight that Riku can use while in Dark Mode. Riku charges and unleashes a fiery dark projectile from his free hand, dealing a considerable amount of neutral damage. The projectile itself behaves similar to Fire magic, traveling at a fast speed with some homing capabilities.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Dark Firaga is an Ultimate magic command exclusive to Terra. It deals dark damage, and it may also blind enemies. It takes up one slot in the Command Deck, has a maximum level of 5, has a normal reload time of 20 seconds and fills the Command Gauge by 35%.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Dark Firaga is a magic command exclusive to Riku. It allows the user to launch a single ball of dark flame that splits apart into five smaller fireballs when near an enemy, with a chance to ignite some enemies. It deals dark damage, uses one slot in the Command Deck, and has a reload time of 26 seconds. It grants +20 to both Fire Resistance and Dark Resistance when attached to a Dream Eater recipe.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

  • Riku can trigger the Dark Firaga situation command when wielding Braveheart, and has Dark Firaga as a default ability as a party member.

Other appearances[edit]

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Riku can use Dark Firaga after being possessed by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, either as a counter via absorbing Sora's magic or as a regular attack when powered up via Darkhand state. Deflecting it gives Sora 34 Tech Points while also being able to damage Riku with it.

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories[edit]

As a Replica created from the real Riku's combat data, the Riku Replica can utilize Dark Firaga, as well as the other skills granted to Riku by Dark Mode. Unlike Riku, who needs a card value of 16-25 to perform this attack, the Riku Replica can use it with any value. In the original game, this sleight isn't used in the first fight as Sora.

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

During the battle against Riku-Ansem in the Land of Dragons, Riku casts volleys of Dark Firaga to attack Sora.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]

In his battle against Roxas, Riku utilizes Dark Firaga where he hops backwards before he releases a pillar of dark fire. The pillar will first move straight ahead, before tracking the opponent. He can also utilize Wandering Shot which is similar to Dark Firaga, where he fires a blast of dark energy that homes in on the target. He only uses it when at a distance, and if it connects, Riku will warp to the target's location and attack with a shockwave.

In Mission Mode, Anti-Riku takes Riku's place in Mission 93. He uses the same skills as Riku, including Dark Firaga.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]

Vanitas uses Dark Firaga in every boss battle except the final battle in Ventus's scenario, as well as Vanitas Remnant. The user shoots a fireball that tracks the opponent. On the way, the fireball splits into 5 and start flying at high speed. This attack can be blocked but the spread fireballs circumvent Terra's and Ventus's Block.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded[edit]

Data-Riku uses Dark Firaga when Data-Sora fights him in Hollow Bastion; the attack sends either a single fireball or three fireballs at Data-Riku's target.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance[edit]

During Riku's battle against the second form of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, the Heartless uses two variations of Dark Firaga (Level and Upper). During Dark Matter, those two variations allow Ansem to use two status-inducing variants known as Chaos Firaga (カオスファイガ Kaosu Faiga?, lit. "Chaos Figa") and Dark Rain (ダークレイン Dāku Rein?) respectively.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper[edit]
