Card:04 The Scent of Darkness, also called Card 04: Scent of Darkness, is the fourth chapter in the Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories manga.
Story
Riku wakes up in a unknown place, and thinks back on how he helped Sora close the Door to Darkness, leaving him and King Mickey trapped in the Realm of Darkness. A mysterious voice tells Riku he is between light and darkness, and urges him to sleep. When Riku refuses, a card appears and transports Riku to Hollow Bastion. The voice explains the world was made from Riku's memories, and he will meet the people he misses most. Maleficent appears and claims he only misses the darkness. Maleficent transforms into a dragon, claiming nothing is greater than the power of darkness, but Riku strikes her down. Hollow Bastion disappears, and Riku calls out to the myserious voice, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. Ansem claims Riku is out of reach from the light, but Mickey's voice promises Riku the light will always find him. Ansem gives Riku a card, and tempers the darkness inside him before leaving.
In the basement of Castle Oblivion, Zexion tells Vexen and Lexaeus that he sensed Riku in the castle. Riku questions whether he can reach the light, but a projection of Mickey appears to assure him, and he promises Riku to always be by his side. In the basement, Zexion, Vexen, and Lexaeus discuss how Riku ended up in Castle Oblivion, to which Vexen claims it is because of Sora. Vexen plans to "acquire" Riku, to counter Marluxia's plans with Sora.
