Stop (ストップ Sutoppu ), Stopra (ストプラ Sutopura ), and Stopga (ストプガ Sutopuga ) are a series of magic that appears in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. They utilize the element of time. Stop spells inflict the Stop status, which temporarily freezes targets in time.
In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Mickey Mouse uses Stopgun (ストップガン Sutoppugan ) in an attempt to freeze the true Organization XIII.
Mechanics
Kingdom Hearts
In Kingdom Hearts, Stop prevents a target from moving for a short amount of time. The higher-tier Stopra and Stopga have a greater range of effect. The duration of the Stop effect, in seconds, is determined by the following equation:
- Time = (Maximum MP) + 2
When a stopped enemy is attacked, they receive none of the damage dealt to them until the effect wears off.
After the keyhole in Hollow Bastion is revealed, most enemies have an increased resistance to Stop magic.
Sora and Donald Duck can both use Stop magic. Donald uses the same magic that Sora can use. The Genie summon can use any magic Sora learns, including Stop.
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
In Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Stop is a magic card that can be used by Sora. It halts enemy movement for a set time period. Stocking multiple Stop cards allows the user to cast Stopra or Stopga.
The Genie summon card and its associated sleight may cast Stop magic when used.
