"More Gracious" Comment[edit]
I've pulled the "more gracious" comment from the entry's text and request that you please not re-add it. That's a personal opinion that does not belong in an encyclopedia entry. In addition, implying that that showing skin is tasteless treads very close to slut shaming on the list of "Things You Do Not Do If You Don't Want To Be Blatantly Misogynist."

FFwiki users, do you think CSM would have liked them a little bit more if they were dressed like this in FFX-2? just joking =D Pablo618 21:14, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know, but they need to be more detailed in the other games. We don't even know what they really are... --Unbirth 21:48, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

- That's nice for you, darlin' (and I'm sorry, I'm a total guest here), but I've pulled the "more gracious" comment from the entry's text. The amount of skin you believe women should or should not show is nobody's business but your own, and some readers may resent the idea that showing skin is tasteless.

- Mind you, I'm putting it back. Because it's not being subjective, keep in mind that Kingdom Hearts is a game for minors and up. You won't wanna be showing flesh to them, even if you think it's okay. TROISNYX AMDG 01:11, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
- EDIT 01:13, June 21, 2010 (UTC) : Well, at least you didn't remove that bit. But the wiki stance remains : be gracious. And about it being nobody's business but our own, hello, there's such a thing as moral police on this wiki, so watch your words. TROISNYX AMDG
- "More gracious" is a loaded value judgment -- and value judgments are subjective. The word "gracious" itself is subjective, which makes it inexact and inappropriate for a wiki entry. A more precise way of expressing that idea would be the changes I made, which I tried to keep straight to the facts (the Gullwing fairies show less skin than the Final Fantasy X-2 Gullwings) without throwing in any sort of value judgment.

- Fair enough, but graciousness is indeed the reason Nomura remodelled Aqua for it to be E10+. If I were you, I wouldn't change it. I'm leaving the content as it is for now, because the facts are still there. But keep what I said in mind. TROISNYX AMDG 02:19, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
- That's all well and fair, hon, but 1: If that's a direct quote, it needs to be placed in quotation marks and attributed. If you don't attribute it, the line reads as if it's your opinion and value judgment. And 2: I fail to see how a redesign for Aqua says anything about the Gullwings worth quoting.

Ha, you'd obviously fail to see it, because you don't even think of how the E10+ theme is kept throughout the game. Aqua's redesign + the Gullwings' redesign = keeping in line with the ratings. No person in his right mind who plays a game with Disney in it would expect the game to be rated T and up, unless it's so epic that it has to feature aggravated violence ! TROISNYX AMDG 23:37, June 22, 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how I miscommunicated in my previous comment, but I was not and am not talking about the ratings or the nature of Disney. I objected to what I perceived as a value judgment, which does not belong in a wiki, and you informed me that what I'd perceived as a value judgment was in fact a direct statement by Nomura. Unfortunately, unattributed quotes can read as personal opinions. If Nomura actually said that he redesigned the Gullwings so their clothing would be "more gracious," then the comment should have been in quotation marks; otherwise, people who don't have a nigh-encyclopedic memory of comments made by the character designer will have no idea that Nomura actually said that. If Nomura did not, in fact, say that about the Gullwings, then you need to elucidate and defend why a quote about a completely different character applies to the Gullwings--without saying or implying that it's self-evident. (As a quick aside, please mind your tone. Passive-aggressive statements like "you'd obviously fail to see it" don't belong in any discourse you'd like to keep civilized.) --Swinburne 01:39, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
As far as I know, Nomura did indeed do it, and because we did not directly quote from one of his interviews, we kept it without quotation marks. Value judgement or not, it'd have been a value judgement on Nomura's part, and even the smallest of these value judgements are that important for Kingdom Hearts. And no, by putting that, we're not the least bit mysogynist ; Kingdom Hearts = E10+ ; cover up, imbue the kids with love. Not some skin-revealing, goodness-knows-what-kind-of-other vice. Character Box?[edit]
Does they need a character box? In case my question gets to vague, you know, the Golden-info box.--N/A

Title[edit]
Does it actually call them Gullwings in the game? Organization13 18:17, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
- Old question, but I was wondering the same. I don't remember a moment where they are called "Gullwings"? Lady Junky (talk) 15:55, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- As stated in the "Design and conception" section of the article: "Jiminy's Journal never mentions the name "Gullwings", instead only copying the description the girls gave themselves in the middle of Final Fantasy X-2's story.". 97.81.38.40 16:36, 1 October 2015 (UTC) Rex Ronald Rilander

Move[edit]
Shouldn't we call this page "Yuna, Rikku, and Paine"? Our policy is to use the full real name instead of nicknames, so Squall Leonhart instead of Leon, and doesn't Gullwings count as a nickname? TheSilentHero 21:47, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- I thought it was a group name, like the HRBC or Organization."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 22:25, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Each member of those groups have their own page, though. This page covers both the group and the characters themselves. TheSilentHero 23:01, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- It should be Yuna, Rikku, and Paine, as I don't recall the term "Gullwings" ever actual used in Kingdom Hearts II. KeybladeSpyMaster 03:51, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- You're correct, it wasn't. The page even says that they are never referred to as "the Gullwings". Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 06:37, 21 February 2019 (UTC)

- Ouch. Having forgotten that line after all the times I've played KH2 hits me right in my ego. Thanks for the quote, though. Rex Ronald Rilander (talk) 04:58, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Separate Renders[edit]
Separate renders does not exist for these characters. It's possible to crop out Yuna since she's at the front but Paine and Rikku would be missing parts of their shoes. The best we can do is screenshots from the game I believe. - Joseph Thorn Dalton XCV 02:14, 28 April 2023
