Merge[edit]
Should this page be merged into Realm of Darkness? Pretty much everything on here is listed there as well. The sources claim the "Dark Margin" area is part of this world and not the RoD, but in KH3, when Riku and Mickey visit the Dark Margin, it shows the Dark World logo, indicating it actually is part of the RoD. - This area is so annoying. It's said to be in the Realm Between, it's said to be in Realm of Darkness, it's said to be bordering between the two, it's said to be its own world. The Dark Margin in KH2 is said to at the edge of the Realm Between, but the one in KH3 very clearly is in RoD. Are there two identical beaches opposite each other? Honestly, I don't know what the correct course of action is regarding this page. I haven't gone over the RoD Talk Page to see what past discussions have led to either. If it is its own world then I suppose it has to have its own page(...?), but as of now it seems massively redundant to keep it. Nothing is known about this "world" besides this beaches, which somehow exists within other realms/worlds as well. Get rid of it I guess? - Joseph Thorn Dalton XCV (talk) 18:01, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- There is only one beach, it's always the same one. There being two or more beaches on different sides of the ocean or whatever is a fan theory not is not supported by the visuals, the script or the interviews. Technically the beach is part of End of Sea, while the ocean is part of the Realm of Darkness. Being on the beach is being in both worlds at the same time, there is no real inconsistency. All ingame journals in the Kingdom Heart games considers it as part of the Realm of Darkness, so it's not different in KH3.
- So why did we create a new page? It's very simple: Because every world has one and this world was confirmed by Nomura a long time ago and when the logo was relevealed (even if it wasn't used in any game yet), there was no reason not to start a page. I agree about the redudancy with the Realm of Darkness page but this should be solved by removing the information from the Realm of Darkness page instead.
- My best guess is there was a good plot reason to introduce this world in such a strange way but it became obsolete at some point. --ShardofTruth 06:11, 1 July 2023 (UTC)~
- Question then: would it be better to rename the Realm of Darkness page to Dark World, move everything that happens at Dark Margin to End of Sea (if there's something which still needs to be moved), and have Realm of Darkness only be mentioned on Universe of Kingdom Hearts (similar to how we treat the other realms) with Dark World and End of Sea listed as known worlds within the realm? - Joseph Thorn Dalton XCV (talk) 16:05, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- Wouldn't that be a problem for KH3? It shows the Dark World logo, but the only area seen is the Dark Margin. I think it might be better if we consider End of Sea an alternate/older name for Dark World, especially since it hasn't actually been named in any of the games. TheSilentHero 17:00, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- The logo does appear before Mickey and Riku reach the beach though, they are the same areas Aqua visits in BBS0.2 so it's not a contradiction. What I don't like about the term "Dark World" is that it's not used in the script or the journal of any game, there is also not a subtitle when the logo appears so we really don't know if it's really another translation for the realm of darkness (which is very likely I agree), a part of the realm of darkness or the actual End of Sea. Every map name in BBS contained "Realm of Darkness" but that's not the case in BBS0.2 and KHIII. Do both the logo and 闇の世界 ever appear together? Normally SE would have used Dark World in the translation from BBS0.2 going forward or changed the logo so it fits to the English translation. But that's not what happened so I'm confused. --ShardofTruth 17:01, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- The logo and name appear together in the KH3 Ultimania, page 355. It even mentions the Dark Margin. TheSilentHero 17:25, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- You're right, that's probably good enough. On page six of the Series Memorial Ultimania the End of the Sea logo is used for the Dark Margin as a world inside the realm of darkness but back then the Dark World logo probably didn't exist yet. So as long as we don't remove the world status of the Dark Margin or End of Sea or whatever, it's probably fine if it's merged. It's still strange though that the End of Sea is an official world on the English website yet the KH3 Ultimania doesn't mention it while even the Secret Forest is there and of course there is no world section on the Japanese site. It's very unlikely that this question will be solved with KHIV or KHML as well. --ShardofTruth 18:04, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- So how should we go about merging it if that's what seems the most reasonable? I can do it, I just don't quite follow what's being agreed upon here. Would the Dark World logo serve as world logo, while the End of Sea icon serves as world icon? Or should End of Sea be listed as a world within the Dark World/Realm of Darkness page? Apologizes if I'm a bit slow on what's being talked about here. - Joseph Thorn Dalton XCV (talk) 19:47, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
