Kingdom Hearts Mobile is a service released in Japan for i-αppli compatible cell phones. It is a mobile portal where users can customize avatars, communicate with other players, and download ringtones, wallpapers, and other things related to the Kingdom Hearts series. Kingdom Hearts Mobile also serves as a download portal for eight mini-games and Kingdom Hearts coded.[1] It was previously available on the official website, but as of April 30, 2013, it is no longer in service.[2]

The main features of Kingdom Hearts Mobile are organized as areas within the Avatar Kingdom, including shops, information centers, and art galleries. Each user gets their own avatar that can be customized with outfits, weapons, items, and other accessories. The avatar system returned in the Avatar Menu of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

Development[edit]

Information about Kingdom Hearts Mobile was revealed at the DKΣ3713 Private party in August 2008. The service was scheduled for a fall release, with the main content of Kingdom Hearts coded was scheduled for a winter 2008 release.[3] A teaser website for Kingdom Hearts Mobile was released on October 10, 2008, and the service itself launched on December 15, 2008. Until its discontinuation on April 30, 2013, Kingdom Hearts Mobile was frequently updated with special events and new avatar cosmetics.

Kingdom Hearts Mobile was available via a paid monthly subscription. The service had courses planned for ¥315, ¥525, and ¥840 per month. It was compatible with the NTT DoCoMo FOMA 703i, 903i, and later, although Kingdom Hearts coded was only compatible with the DoCoMo PRIME series.[4]

The Avatar Kingdom and mini-games were developed by Mobile & Game Studios Inc. (now Game Studio Inc.) and Serial Games Inc.[5] The avatars were designed by Monster Octopus.

Mini-Games[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Mobile launched with three mini-games, with plans to release an additional mini-game each month for the first few months of service. These mini-games included adaptations of existing board and card games, recreations of mini-games from the main Kingdom Hearts series, and entirely original puzzle and rhythm games. There were a total of eight mini-games included in Kingdom Hearts Mobile.
