I haven't quite got the fine points down, like...when, or where... It just kinda kicks in whenever it wants to.

Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is an animated film in the Kingdom Hearts series as the tenth game. It is releasing exclusively for the PlayStation 4 system as a part of the complete Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue package. Similar to the iterations of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded present in the previous HD releases, Back Cover is a non-interactive movie, albeit rendered in Unreal Engine 4 and Kingdom Hearts III's Kingdom Shader. Whereas 358/2 Days and Re:coded were re-tellings of their respective adventures, Back Cover acts as a companion piece to Kingdom Hearts χ - focusing on the story of the Foretellers rather than the player character.

Story

The story takes place from before the Keyblade War, during χ's timeline. Rather than re-tell the player character's adventures, Back Cover focuses on the five Union Foretellers, and will explain their side of the conflict.

Content

  • The film is rendered in Unreal Engine 4 and the Kingdom Shader, producing the same visual quality as Kingdom Hearts III.
  • It will roughly be an hour in length.
  • It will feature full voice acting for the first time for characters introduced in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] in both English and Japanese.
