KHWiki:Magazine/Journalist Spot
Heard about the new magazine hosted on the KHWiki and the Keyhole and want to get involved? Here at the Journalist Spot, you can share ideas and help us work towards the release of our next issue.
How It Works
To begin with, you must be a registered user on both Wikis with a minimum of either 300 total edits at the KHWiki (check here) or 100 total edits at the Keyhole (check here).
Once you have that, you can sign-up to do any of the below but remember that it is your responsibility to complete anything you have signed up to at least a week before release. Fortunately, there's plenty of help along the way! Once you've signed up to something, you can share ideas about your topic below in the "Discussion" section. Then, other users will feedback and develop your ideas by giving their own thoughts and opinions so that you have enough inspiration to write your entire piece. If you are doing an interview, debate battle or podcast, work with your partner(s) at an off-Wiki location, such as the IRC or by email.
After you have a first draft, email it to "kingdomheartswikibcrat@gmail.com" so that the Editor in Chief can review your work, fix any mistakes and give you any advice that you might need. Please refrain from posting any drafts on the Wiki to prevent ruining the surprise and satisfaction at the end result. Remember to update your status in the sign-up section and again, ensure that you email your work at least a week before release so that there is time to fix any potential issues.
The host for the Journalist Spot alternates every issue so you may need to visit The Keyhole if you want to get involved!
Submission Etiquettes
For the aid of the publisher, we now request everyone to observe the following etiquettes when you are submitting a piece of work:
- Coding
Insert all the relevant coding in your email, including all images, font colors, formatting and links. Also insert the relevant parameters of your piece. For example, this is an example of a perfect riddle submission:
|gridriddle1=Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet |gridriddle1answer=consectetur adipiscing elit |gridriddle1author=Cicero
Two templates have been made to handle links: Template:KHWiki and Template:Keyhole. These works by using the following parameters (this uses the KHWiki template as an example but the Keyhole is the same):
{{KHWiki|LINK DESTINATION|DISPLAYED LINK (optional)|HEX CODE FOR FONT COLOR (optional)}}
Example:
{{KHWiki|Donald Duck|Donald|#00000}}
Never use basic [[ ]] links unless you know that both Wikis have the page that you're linking to!
- Content
Allude to both Wikis as much as possible with links and mentions, unless your section is specific to one Wiki.
- Due Date
It is vital that you submit your work before at least a week before the next issue is set to be released so that a) the publisher has time to add it into the rest of the magazine and b) there is time to fix any issues that there may be.
Sign-Up
Found something you want to do? Sign-up under the bullet point you wish to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the Editor in Chief or the Deputy in Chief! Remember to submit your final work to the wiki's email for review!

Discussion
Would it be possible to get like, a big team of contributors -- not necessarily regulars, but those who can at least commit to one particular issue? If we have enough of these types of contributions each month, we may perhaps be able to revive the Magazine. Thoughts? Troisnyx 07:15, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- That's the point of the sign up sheet and what makes the magazine fun. People sign up to a few tasks each (often changing tasks each issue) and then we see the collaboration in the end result. Contributors don't have to be regulars but they do need to meet the basic requirement. Also, the magazine never died; in fact, I think it's still going on strong!
- The essential thing is people post their stuff early. Last time, we had a day left to release and half the magazine empty. Therefore, I stress to everyone that you must email your work at least a week early. Ideally, as early as you can make it, whether that be two weeks or two months before, but we can't expect that from everyone which is why we compromise on at least a week in advance. TheFifteenthMember 14:56, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Why don't we lower the number of edits required to contribute? It may increase the amount of people working on the magazine. TheSilentHero 16:47, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- That might be a good idea. Byzantinefire - There are no strings on me (talk) 17:32, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe we can encourage collaborations? There could be people out there with good ideas but think their work won't be in the same quality of the magazine and thus don't submit anything. It could even work between each other, like the word search two issues ago. FM and I worked on it together because he had the idea and I could manage the graphics part. Draaek the Blazing Dragon of Light 23:36, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm opposed to lowering the number of edits. Let's remember that the original purpose of the magazine (and MegaProject: Arise at that) was to increase traffic and activity for the wiki. The idea of the Chain of Rewards was new editors work hard and contribute to the wiki, and in return they gain the privilege of working on the magazine. We don't want to see contributors to the magazine that have no experience of the wiki and are not yet integrated into the community. We want them to first learn their way around the place and pick up some basic skills and then contribute. That was the point of ranking the magazine high on the Chain; it's a lot more demanding than voting for featured content. Besides, we have enough people working on the magazine, we just need them to submit their stuff earlier. Also, yes, collaboration is great (and more fun) ^_^ TheFifteenthMember 18:44, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Put it this way, folks: if you're adept enough to write for the magazine, you're adept enough to write for the mainspace. And at the end of the day, the whole point of the magazine is not to draw people away from the mainspace. QED. Troisnyx 19:25, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- I will be contributing more to the magazine issue following this one. My time is limited right now, so I'm unable to contribute in as large a way as I'd ideally like to. Regarding increasing the number of people contributing to the magazine, there are people that regularly edit both wikis who are competent enough to help out, but may be scared to do so. More encouragement is needed to stimulate editors to write. Aixon 19:05, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi folks, just a quick question... Is there a maximum word count for the Keyblade Master articles? When I write, I often have a tendency to write...a lot, so I want to be sure what length I'm aiming for before I really get stuck in. Aixon 12:49, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- I asked this question to Chainoffire myself; I don't think there is a maximum word count. TRSNX 13:04, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
There is not a max word count, however, if I feel it to be too long I may ask you to shorten it, or I may shorten it myself. But, as long as it doesn't break the template, you should be fine. Chainoffire 04:25, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
Ansem Reports
Is anyone doing a piece for the new trailer? If not, I might be able to scribble something down in time. TheFifteenthMember 21:18, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- I am. Though you're more than welcome to add to it once I send the final draft to Chain. Xion4ever 22:41, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Magazine Cover
I've done one, basically stating THE HYPE IS REAL on top of a little rendition of KHIII Sora -- does anyone have the Twilight Times logo? TRSNX 13:08, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, KSM gave it to me as part of his files before he left. *raises toast* TheFifteenthMember 16:20, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Lovely! I'll uh, post a draft. Also, FM, are you free to help us with something? TRSNX 20:58, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- One more thing FM: I need both logos for KHW and The Keyhole, please, if you have them. TRSNX 22:56, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry about the triple post, but here is the cover as it currently is.
- Can you try using a character render in it instead? Byzantinefire - There are no strings on me (talk) 00:08, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I get it. I only pretend to be able to draw. To be honest though, the Keyblade guns were the perfect shot for rendering, but 1) I can't render for crap, and 2) there isn't any pre-existing render apart from the one with Sora standing. That's boring, and we know it.
Anyone else looking at the proposed cover, please decide if you want to go with this, or get a render. TRSNX 08:30, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
This is fine. It's always good to show off the talents of users. The drawing looks great, and it should be kept, as far as I am concerned. Aixon 11:59, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
I saw the preview on your DA before noticing it was going to be used for the cover and I'd like to say that I found it amazing! Besides, we haven't had any hand drawn covers yet so it would be a good addition to the issues and a change of air from the computer graphic ones we've had so far :) Draaek the Blazing Dragon of Light 15:36, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
KHWiki and Keyhole. The cover looks great! What do you require of me? I can do it depending on how much work it involves, since I don't have much free time at the moment. TheFifteenthMember 16:02, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- FM: We are in the midst of trying to code this Coliseum thing, about how many plotholes the story of Kingdom Hearts has, and the reasons for them, and I think Riku the Bloody is the one who has the other side of the text. I have it in the history as well, if you require it of me -- at the moment, my efforts are concentrated on a lot of other places.
- Also, thanks a lot, Draaek for the big up, and thanks FM for the images. TRSNX 17:53, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
- I have my email working again. I'll be sure to send it to you now. RikutheBloody 15:29, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
- I sent it anyway to see your thoughts about it. RikutheBloody 17:16, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
It can high hopes of being recycled into a mailbag question for next issue. It'd be quite a unique one since it's answered by two people rather than one. TheFifteenthMember 18:57, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
- Are you saying it wont work? RikutheBloody 02:47, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
- Not as a coliseum debate. Unless you style it as for or against maybe? But there was no disagreement so it won't work unfortunately. 94.174.158.20 07:28, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

I have sent in the Unlocking the Keyhole New Users and Tea Party Summary sections. Time restraints stopped me from completing the rest of the page, else I would have done them too. Aixon 12:46, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Just checking in here, as I've not had the time to do anything over the past few days. Are we still waiting for the tasks that haven't been struck through to be completed before the magazine can be published? Aixon 18:10, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Fannotation Addition
Can the Magazine get postponed to the 7th when the fannotation comes out so it might be included in the magazine and plus it would give more time to work on the magazine and sort things out. Byzantinefire - There are no strings on me (talk) 18:24, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
