Break Time (ブレイクタイム Bureiku Taimu?) is a technique that appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It allows the user to rejuvenate themselves or their allies by taking a break.

Mechanics

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Break Time is an Advanced attack command that allows the user to refill the HP and Focus Gauges by pressing   when prompted. It takes up one slot in the Command Deck, has a maximum level of 4, and a normal reload time of 20 seconds. Getting a "Good" rating on a button press recovers a normal amount of the HP and Focus gauges, while an "Excellent" rating earns double, and a "Too Slow" or "Too Fast" earns half. The user may be interrupted by enemies during their "break" action—handstand push-ups for Terra, break dancing for Ventus, and twirling the Keyblade like a baton for Aqua.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Break Time is an attack command exclusive to Sora. It uses one slot in the Command Deck and has a reload time of 50 seconds. The effect of the command is determined by the spotlights that randomly light up at the end; solid green lights refill the party's HP gauges, blue and yellow lights refill their Link Gauges, while red, green, and blue lights refill half of the Drop Gauge and resets its rate of drain; these effects correspond to the respective items, and can thus be enhanced by equipping Item Boost. Break Time grants +2 to maximum affinity level and +2 to Strength when attached to a Dream Eater recipe.
