The Master's Defender is Master Eraqus's Keyblade. It is later passed on to Master Aqua, and it appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. As a digital simulation of Master Eraqus's Keyblade Armor, the Armor of Eraqus also wields this blade.
History
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
The blade made its entrance during the Mark of Mastery Exam of Terra and Aqua, where Master Eraqus summoned balls of light for his pupils to practice with. However, the exam is sabotaged by Master Xehanort, causing a chain of events that led to Terra, Aqua, and Ventus to go on separate journeys into other worlds.
The blade is not seen again until Ventus returns and confronts Eraqus, and with a heavy heart, summoned the keyblade to eradicate Ventus, but Terra intervened, sending Ventus to another world and dueling his master, only stopping after realizing what they were doing. However, Xehanort sent a dark shot through Eraqus's heart, killing him, and leaving behind only the blade. It is left in the ruins of the Land's Departure, until Aqua returns to the world, and taking the blade as her own. She uses the blade to transform the Land into Castle Oblivion, leaves Ventus to sleep, and sets out to find Terra.
After relinquishing her own keyblade, Aqua begins to use master's defender in the realm of darkness.

Design
The Master's Defender has a smooth, cylindrical, grey shaft that tapers outward at both ends. It has a boxy guard, made up of two small, light grey boxes and copper rod. The base of the guard connects to the grip, and both sport several small indentations lining them. The grip itself is somewhat unique in that, while most Keyblade grips are cylindrical, the Master's Defender's grip is squared. The teeth are in the shape of an "E". The "E"-shaped teeth and the square grip are likely an allusion to "Square-Enix", which Eraqus's name also references. Its Keychain is made of several simple chain links and its token is the Terra's Mark symbol that appears on Eraqus's, Ventus's, Terra's, and Aqua's clothing.
The Master's Defender's Japanese name reflects that it is used exclusively by characters with the title of "Master". "Defender" can mean "guardian", which may reference its use by Keyblade Masters to guard the Land of Departure.
