- "Every Keyblade master is bequeathed a Keyblade of his very own. With the passing of time, as you can imagine, more and more Keyblades were forged to be handed down. But of all the Keyblades in existence, Master Xehanort's is the most ancient."
- —Young Xehanort explaining the importance of Master Xehanort's Keyblade.
Master Xehanort's Keyblade is the default form of Master Xehanort's Keyblade that appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Aside from Master Xehanort, this Keyblade is wielded by Terra-Xehanort and No Heart.
Story
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Although Master Xehanort does not often draw his Keyblade, he wields it in this form whenever he engages in battle, channels his own dark magic, or uses the weapon's ability to lock and unlock hearts.
Master Xehanort uses this Keyblade to extract the dark half of Ventus's heart to create Vanitas, scar Master Eraqus's face, send the Land of Departure into darkness, converts his Keyblade into an orb of dark energy that he launches into the sky to clear the way to Kingdom Hearts, and he wields it during his and Terra's final battle at the Keyblade Graveyard.
After Master Xehanort extracts his own heart and possesses Terra's body, Terra-Xehanort retains usage of this Keyblade and uses it during his battles with the Lingering Will at the Keyblade Graveyard and Aqua at Radiant Garden. When Terra's heart begins throwing off Xehanort's control, Terra-Xehanort is forced to use this Keyblade on his body to seal away both hearts, losing the ability to wield the Keyblade in the process.[1]
Between Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts
During the descent of Radiant Garden into darkness, Terra-Xehanort regains this Keyblade and uses it to extract Braig's heart from his body to create Xigbar.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
Following his revival, Braig speaks with the time-travelling Young Xehanort about Master Xehanort's plans. Over the course of this conversation, Young Xehanort mentions how his elderly self's Keyblade is the most ancient Keyblade of all. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX)
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
When Riku attempts to save Sora from the clutches the real Organization XIII, Master Xehanort possesses his younger self to stop him, thus giving his Keyblade a different appearance. When Master Xehanort gains a physical body, he uses his Keyblade, which has reverted to its original form, in an attempt to place a fragment of his heart inside Sora's comatose body.
Design
Master Xehanort's Keyblade has a spiky, black guard resembling demonic wings, a horned lion head just above the handle, two barbed shafts, and teeth resembling a battle axe split into three almost claw-like protrusions. It resembles the Oblivion Keyblade to a degree, but with two shafts and a different head. It also contains two eyes of darkness; one above the handle and the other one on the head. Its shaft and head are adorned with several twisting, silver patterns.
No Heart has displayed the ability to detach the head of the Keyblade to form an impenetrable barrier, as well as transform the Keyblade into a claw-like weapon, a greave, or a pair of wings that allow flight. His Keyblade possesses a Keychain that has a black charm with another demonic blue eye upon it.
It shares some traits with the Foreteller's Keyblades, implying some connection.
