Even thougth Xehanort has been classified as a 'devious tactician' and master manipulator, he could be outsmarted himself.
As in his youth, Xehanort was deceived by the Master of Masters words about the "truth" that he revealed to him, and was later played (unknowingly) by Xigbar. Although dubbed as the prophesized 'Dark Seeker' and coming to see Xigbar as a simple pawn and potential vessel for one of his Seekers of Darkness, he passed away not knowing or fully realizing that his long-dated "ally" was just hiding his true identity as one of the lost foretellers, [[Luxu]].
Realizing Xehanort was the "Scapegoat" destinated to hold the Keyblade of his master, as foretold in the Book of Prophecies, Luxu disguised himself as a foolish man who desired a Keyblade for himself in order to make sure that Xeahnort accomplished what he and the Master of Masters prepared for their future plans. This final revelation, showed even more how delusional and hopeless Master Xehanort's plans were. With his death and passing, he had unknowingly set forth the next chain of events that would pave the way for the mysterious plan that the Master of Masters had envisioned so long ago.
