We have come for you, my liege.
The Dusk is a low-ranking Nobody that is found in Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts III. Dusks are the most common Nobodies. They are the only types of low Nobody known to be able to speak, and are used by Organization XIII for simple recon and courier operations. Higher-ranking Nobodies are sometimes threatened with being transformed into Dusks as an extreme form of punishment.

The Dusk is the most common of Nobodies, and the second weakest (next to Creeper). Dusks can be thrown off guard with a Reversal reaction command. Dusks are usually teamed up with a Creeper or some other sort of Nobody. They are first seen in Twilight Town.
Story
Kingdom Hearts II
Dusks are sent into The Other Twilight Town to bring back Roxas, but due to DiZ wiping his memory of his time in the Organization, Roxas instead fights them off along with several Creepers and Twilight Thorn. One Dusk poses as the virtual Vivi, summoning its comrades when the Struggle match freezes. Another one poses as a dog owned by a boy and hides inside a bag on Sunset Hill.

Journal Entry
Yen Sid later shows three Dusk holograms when explaining the existence of Nobodies to Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
It is difficult to read this creature's next move, so catch it off guard with a Reversal to stop its actions. A series of attacks and Reversals can also look cool in battle!

Note: It lets its guard down when its attack is parried. This is also true for all Nobodies.
During the Battle of the 1000 Heartless, Dusks fight against Armored Knight Heartless. However, once Maleficent orders them to focus on Sora, Donald and Goofy, the Dusks team up with them. Saïx summons some Dusks to take out a small battalion of Soldiers summoned by Maleficent. They then pin Maleficent to the ground, forcing her to flee through a Corridor of Darkness.

Anatomy
In The World That Never Was, Dusks and a Neoshadow attempt to prevent King Mickey from advancing up Naught's Skyway. He slays them all to save DiZ.
Dusks are apparently very Heartless-like in anatomy. However, they are almost completely covered by a white latex-like suit that unzips at the mouth. What lies beneath the suit remains a mystery, however a mouth similar to that of several Heartless can be seen beneath the zipper. They are sinuous and flexible, able to bend over backwards and do flips in midair.

Kingdom Hearts III
When Sora, Donald, and Goofy initially arrive in Twilight Town and discuss Roxas, several Dusks appear, asking if he seeks "[their] liege". Later, Xemnas summons several Dusks outside the Old Mansion in order to supplement the Neoshadows summoned by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness.

When Ansem the Wise is brought to Twilight Town, Hayner, Pence, and Olette attack the Seeker of Darkness. Vexen sends several Dusks to aid them, with one cushioning Hayner's fall when the Dark Figure throws him at the wall surrounding the Old Mansion.

Design
A Dusk has a thin, sinuous body that is capable of dumbfounding feats of flexibility. It has a large, cylindrical head with a flat top that is emblazoned with the Nobody symbol. Its body seems to be covered in a light grey jumpsuit, and its "mouth" is actually a zipper that undoes itself to reveal its actual, grey, sharp-toothed mouth underneath. It appears to be fairly muscular, though its arms and legs are very thin. The sides of its body are lined by a black line, which pulses weakly with light. Its feet and hands are pointed and lack digits, and its hands each sport two black bands around them.

The Dusk's name refers to the period of time when the sun begins to set and twilight begins to set in. This emphasizes how Nobodies are beings of neither Light nor Darkness, but are closer to the Darkness.

Strategy
Strategy
Dusks are fairly weak and require little strategy but can be a bit troublesome in large groups at the beginning of the game, especially when paired with the Creeper Nobody. The Reversal reaction command can help as it stuns the Dusk and any surrounding Dusks and Creepers.
Kingdom Hearts II
Dusks are fairly weak and require little strategy, but can be a bit troublesome in large groups at the beginning of the game, especially when paired with the Creeper Nobody. The Reversal Reaction Command can help as it stuns the Dusk and any surrounding Dusks and Creepers. However, although this strategy works well playing as Roxas (because of the shorter combos), when at high levels, they can be eliminated with ease. Reversal can also be used to avoid other Nobodies as they normally appear with others. Also, Fire magic and Thunder magic can help greatly when playing as Sora in case they surround him.

Dusks counter with any of their attacks when damaged, though they can be prevented from triggering the counterattack through the repeated use of Reversal.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Dusks can be battled in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days during several missions located in The World That Never Was. They can easily be dispatched by staying at a distance and using Blizzard magic, which they are weak to, and blocking their spinning charge attack which is generally easy to react to.

Kingdom Hearts III
Dusks have a similar attack pattern as in Kingdom Hearts II, except Reversal is unavailable. Dusks that do not stagger while moving means that they are in the process of attacking. At this point, get into a defensive position to block the attack in order to open them to being staggered once again. They can be very easily dealt with using Formchanges like Blizzard Claws and Blizzard Blades, which exclusively deal Blizzard damage (which Dusks are weak to) and bypass their Revenge Value, which only increases when being attacked by Physical attacks.

Dusks appear to be very mischievous, drawing on Roxas's face with markers during his early days in Organization XIII, and when he fell into a coma, making him look like Groucho Marx on Day 29, and Xigbar on Day 30. Afterwards, Xion would clean his face daily, but this only prompted them to draw in permanent marker. They also seem to perform servitude roles for the other members of the Organization, such as giving Xaldin a shave.

One particular Dusk develops a fascination with Xion, as she was the only member to treat it with kindness. It later perishes after trying to "slow down" Riku under Saïx's orders before leaving behind Aster tataricus flowers for Xion, a reference to the meaning of her name.<!--Cite the chapters the relationship with the Dusk is shown and when it dies and leaves the flowers for Xion-->

Trivia
Trivia
*Dusks apparently have a European dialect; their only spoken phrase is, "We have come for you, my liege."
*Dusks are the first common enemy to be specifically mentioned outside of Jiminy's Journal; in this case, they are referred to as such by Axel and Yen Sid.
*Apparently, Dusks do acknowledge the higher ranked Nobodies (such as Roxas, to whom the above phrase is said to) as their masters.
*A glitch in the North American Kingdom Hearts II causes a Dusk to randomly pop out of one summoned by Axel while it is being fought.
*Dusks are roughly the Nobody equivalent of a Neoshadow.
*It is possible that stronger Nobodies can somehow be turned into Dusks, as Axel at one point says: "Sure, but I'm not getting turned into a Dusk for..." to Roxas and makes a similar comment earlier when he argues with Xemnas and Xaldin regarding his order to destroy Roxas.
*They are the first sub-species of either the Heartless or Nobodies to be specifically mentioned in dialogue.

It is difficult to read this creature's next move, so catch it off guard with a Reversal to stop its actions. A series of attacks and Reversals can also look cool in battle!

—A Dusk to Roxas

The Dusk is a low-ranking Nobody that is found in Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts III. Dusks are the most common Nobodies. They are the only types of low Nobody known to be able to speak, and are used by Organization XIII for simple recon and courier operations. Higher-ranking Nobodies are sometimes threatened with being transformed into Dusks as an extreme form of punishment.

Story[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

Dusks are sent into The Other Twilight Town to bring back Roxas, but due to DiZ wiping his memory of his time in the Organization, Roxas instead fights them off along with several Creepers and Twilight Thorn. One Dusk poses as the virtual Vivi, summoning its comrades when the Struggle match freezes. Another one poses as a dog owned by a boy and hides inside a bag on Sunset Hill.

Yen Sid later shows three Dusk holograms when explaining the existence of Nobodies to Sora, Donald, and Goofy.

In The World That Never Was, Dusks and a Neoshadow attempt to prevent King Mickey from advancing up Naught's Skyway. He slays them all to save DiZ.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Design[edit]

Strategy[edit]

Kingdom Hearts II[edit]

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days[edit]

Dusks can be battled in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days during several missions located in The World That Never Was. They can easily be dispatched by staying at a distance and using Blizzard magic, which they are weak to, and blocking their spinning charge attack which is generally easy to react to.

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

Dusks have a similar attack pattern as in Kingdom Hearts II, except Reversal is unavailable. Dusks that do not stagger while moving means that they are in the process of attacking. At this point, get into a defensive position to block the attack in order to open them to being staggered once again. They can be very easily dealt with using Formchanges like Blizzard Claws and Blizzard Blades, which exclusively deal Blizzard damage (which Dusks are weak to) and bypass their Revenge Value, which only increases when being attacked by Physical attacks.

Other appearances[edit]

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days manga[edit]

Dusks appear to be very mischievous, drawing on Roxas's face with markers during his early days in Organization XIII, and when he fell into a coma, making him look like Groucho Marx on Day 29, and Xigbar on Day 30. Afterwards, Xion would clean his face daily, but this only prompted them to draw in permanent marker. They also seem to perform servitude roles for the other members of the Organization, such as giving Xaldin a shave.

One particular Dusk develops a fascination with Xion, as she was the only member to treat it with kindness. It later perishes after trying to "slow down" Riku under Saïx's orders before leaving behind Aster tataricus flowers for Xion, a reference to the meaning of her name.[?]

Trivia[edit]

 • Dusks are the first common enemy to be specifically mentioned outside of Jiminy's Journal; in this case, they are referred to as such by Axel and Yen Sid.
 • A glitch in the North American Kingdom Hearts II causes a Dusk to randomly pop out of one summoned by Axel while it is being fought.
