Anti Form also known as Anti-Sora, is Sora's Heartless from Kingdom Hearts II. It happens based on a hidden counter that increases as you use forms (but drastically decreases every time you use Final Form), and has no abilities. The form takes on the appearance of Anti-Sora from the first Kingdom Hearts game, only without the keyblade and with a dark mist rising from Sora's hands. Furthermore, unlike the Anti-Sora in Kingdom Hearts, his movements are somewhat feral in manner, as he runs about on all fours and attacks with his hands as though they are claws.

Antiform is a Drive Form which appears in Kingdom Hearts II. It uses both party members, and consumes all of Sora's Drive Bars, and any progress towards recovering another one. It represents the darkness that still dwells within Sora's heart, and it is obtained along with Sora's new clothes at Mysterious Tower. Its emblem is a black, demonic silhouette.

Most believe that this Drive Form exists due to Sora becoming a Heartless, specifically a Shadow. This is actually confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura in the Kingdom Hearts Ultimania guide. Since his movements in this Form are remniscent of that of Shadows and Neoshadows, this Drive Form is essentially the closest he ever gets to turning into a Heartless once more.
Design
Form:Sora
Antiform bears a strong resemblance to the AntiSora Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. It transforms Sora's clothes black with blue accents while his skin and hair become ink-black, his eyes glow yellow like a Heartless's, and he constantly emits misty black and violet wisps of darkness from his arms and back. In this form, Sora runs on all fours and forgoes using the Keyblade in favor of attacking with claws on his hands.

While Sora is extremely fast in this form, he can't attack with the Keyblade, instead he use his claws and feet, and can only revert when not in battle. It uses ALL of Sora's remaining Drive Gauge, and takes both party members. Note that if Sora consumes drive orbs while in this form, his Drive Gauge will decrease even further. It also makes Sora more vulnerable to damage, and his attack power drops, but his combo length is longer than most other combos in the game (Final Form can get in more hits at its higher levels, but it is very fast, and ends quicker than the Anti-Form combo). Anti-Form cannot be levelled up, and has no specific abilities, but pressing Square will make him do a Dodge to Forward Lunge attack (Anti-Glide). One more threat is that Sora can't use magic or items, meaning he can't be healed. Midair Doom deals Dark magic damage, but this doesn't count, due to it not being in the magic menu.
According to Tetsuya Nomura in an interview with Famitsu, Sora can access this form due to his brief time as a Shadow.<!--cite to journal-->

Many say that the way to trigger Anti-Form is by getting hit by Heartless while in other drives, such as Valor, Wisdom, or Master. However, this is wrong, and has been proven that the way to turn into Anti-Form is by repeatedly Driving into any but Final Form, racking up Anti-Points. Another theory is to turn into Wisdom or Valor form then when you next have full drive, turn into the opposite OR Master Form - you will almost always turn into Anti-Form,have another way and theire the more easy, use the Two Across keyblade only avayble on KH2 Final Mix+,enter on any form but not the Final Form and transform on Anti Sora.
Mechanics
Unlike other Drive Forms, Antiform cannot be purposefully activated. Instead, it will be randomly activated when Sora attempts to enter Valor Form, Wisdom Form, Limit Form, or Master Form while in combat, based on a hidden "Anti Point" counter. This counter is increased by 1 every time Valor, Wisdom, Limit, or Master Form is activated, but is reduced by 10 when Final Form is used. Gameplay-wise, Antiform exists as a consequence of abusing the Drive system, and it is meant to be "strong but troublesome".

It is wise to not rack up Anti-Points before a boss battle because even though Sora deals lots of damage with Anti-Form's long combos, as he is more vulnerable to damage and can't be healed.
When using the Two Become One Keyblade, its unique Light & Dark ability will make it so Antiform gets the highest chance to activate regardless of the current amount of Anti Points. It is impossible for Sora to enter Antiform while an unconscious ally is on the field, if he is alone (outside of cups where all forms are allowed), or if he is trying to change to Final Form.

Abilities/Attacks
Antiform can only be manually deactivated outside of battle, though its Form Gauge caps out at 6, and consuming Drive Orbs will actually deplete the gauge further. In addition, though Drive Forms normally persist through cutscenes and Cup seeds, Antiform will instead revert to Standard Form.

Growth
Like Valor Form, Antiform cannot use magic; in fact, it cannot use any commands beyond "Attack" and "Revert." Furthermore, Sora cannot pick up HP Orbs while in Antiform (unless an event or boss battle ends where all prizes get auto-collected), meaning he is completely unable to heal in any way. Although Sora moves at twice his normal speed while in Antiform, he takes 50% more damage from attacks, and he does not gain experience from defeated enemies. Most of the Reaction Commands become unusable.

------
Pros
*Great enhancements in speed.
*Fast combos and high damage dealer, given sufficient time for combos.
*Speed of attacks keep certain enemies from attacking back.
*High speed attacks sometimes deflect any attacks without any flinching on Sora's part.
*Can stay in the air for a noticeable amount of time.
*Adds extra difficulty for those who want it.
*Anti Glide is a helpful dodging ability, and it homes in on distant away opponents.

Cons
Abilities
*Occurs based on amount of Drive Form usage. Slightly random, excessive Driving will cause a greater chance of driving into Anti form, but without a boss battle or Keyblade multiplier, there is never a 100% chance of driving into Anti form.

Formula For Triggering Anti-Form
Strategy
When using Antiform, lacking any method of healing means that the player's main goal will be to evade the enemies. Although Antiform's high speed and Anti Glide ability make it easy to stay safe through simply evading the enemy's attacks, its quick combos will often let it keep an enemy stunned while also dealing damage, and can also deflect many attacks automatically. Furthermore, several of Antiform's attacks have a neutral or dark attribute, allowing them to break through enemies which are immune to the weapon-attribute, like the Large Body.

{|border="1" align="center" width="60%"
Unlike other Forms, Antiform automatically reverts to Standard Form when Sora moves to another room, emptying the Drive Gauge. However, if the room is a World Exit or one where party members are walking around, it will refill as normal. Because of this, the Brink of Despair can be used to easily recharge the Drive Gauge immediately after defeating Roxas, allowing the player to repeatedly activate Drive Forms with Light & Dark equipped in order to unlock Final Form.

Trivia
*Anti-Form looks very similar to Anti-Sora in the first game (Kingdom Hearts), only without a Keyblade.

*Despite showing almost no distinctive appearance apart from Sora's shadow, the Anti-Form's appearance does indeed change in different worlds:
:*In Halloween Town the Vampire mask takes the form of a Shadow Heartless.
:*In Timeless River, the Anti-Form appears as a retro cartoon silhouette.
:*In Space Paranoids, the Anti-Form changes the armor completely black and the circuits to dark purple.
:*In Christmas Town, the Anti-Form changes Sora's Santa costume completely to black, a Heartless emblem can be seen on top of the hat though. (Applies only in Final Mix+)
*Anti-Form is the only form that doesn't level up, and Sora doesn't get experience from enemies killed.
*Aside from Riku, Anti-Form is the only Player/Party member that may use dark-based magic attacks.
*Though killing a boss with other forms will result in Sora being in the next cutscene in the mentioned form, being in Anti-Form will revert Sora back to his normal stage (with 0 Gauge)

Antiform
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ
KINGDOM HEARTS II (2005)
A form tied to the powers of darkness. Sora gains agility, but has limited access to commands.

Antiform is a Drive Form which appears in Kingdom Hearts II. It uses both party members, and consumes all of Sora's Drive Bars, and any progress towards recovering another one. It represents the darkness that still dwells within Sora's heart,[1] and it is obtained along with Sora's new clothes at Mysterious Tower. Its emblem is a black, demonic silhouette.

Design[edit]

Main article: Form:Sora

Antiform bears a strong resemblance to the AntiSora Heartless from Kingdom Hearts. It transforms Sora's clothes black with blue accents while his skin and hair become ink-black, his eyes glow yellow like a Heartless's, and he constantly emits misty black and violet wisps of darkness from his arms and back. In this form, Sora runs on all fours and forgoes using the Keyblade in favor of attacking with claws on his hands.

According to Tetsuya Nomura in an interview with Famitsu, Sora can access this form due to his brief time as a Shadow.[?][2]

Mechanics[edit]

Unlike other Drive Forms, Antiform cannot be purposefully activated. Instead, it will be randomly activated when Sora attempts to enter Valor Form, Wisdom Form, Limit Form, or Master Form while in combat, based on a hidden "Anti Point" counter. This counter is increased by 1 every time Valor, Wisdom, Limit, or Master Form is activated, but is reduced by 10 when Final Form is used. Gameplay-wise, Antiform exists as a consequence of abusing the Drive system, and it is meant to be "strong but troublesome".[2]

Strategy[edit]

When using Antiform, lacking any method of healing means that the player's main goal will be to evade the enemies. Although Antiform's high speed and Anti Glide ability make it easy to stay safe through simply evading the enemy's attacks, its quick combos will often let it keep an enemy stunned while also dealing damage, and can also deflect many attacks automatically. Furthermore, several of Antiform's attacks have a neutral or dark attribute, allowing them to break through enemies which are immune to the weapon-attribute, like the Large Body.

Other appearances[edit]

Kingdom Hearts III[edit]

While Sora is in his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, Rage Form's design is identical to Antiform.

Notes and references[edit]

 1. ^ Yen Sid's mirror: "An image of you overcome by the power of darkness flows into your mind."
 2. ^ a b Famitsu Interview; Interviewer: "Is Antiform originated from when Sora got turned into a Heartless?" / Tetsuya Nomura: "Story-wise, yes. Drives are very strong so Antiform exists as a side-effect of using too much power. System-wise, I wanted to create something strong but troublesome." Translation by KHInsider.
